Bad News for broom owners

According to the Patch 2.3.2 PTR Patch Notes Broom timers will be changed from played time, to Real Time. So no matter what, you'll lose your broom in 14 days when it goes live.

I don't know if it's the new patch, but you can fly this broom in Zangermarsh without gettng knocked off due to the weather.

Dam you blizzard for not making this mount permanent. I love flying around on this during halloween, as it feels like I'm actully floating off the ground rather then just sitting on a massive drake.

Also useful to note that if you are not a Priest or Mage this can be used for a free slowfall if you are in an area that allows flying. Since you can use it while moving you can cast it before you hit the ground to avoid dying.

EDIT: Sure, downrank me for mentioning something no one else said, then uprate the 3 people below that say the exact same thing. Seems kind of silly imo.

There are two brooms in the 2011 version of Hallow's End.

Flying Broom is dropped from the Calabaza llena de botín you get from killing the headless horseman daily.

It has no cast time (it's similar to the druids flight form)
It has a 14 day real time duration (in-game time only will affect the duration)
It requires Expert Riding
It's a flying broom

Escoba mágica is dropped from the Obsequio mal envuelto you get from completing the "¡Dejad que el fuego se acerque!" or ¡Apaga el fuego! daily quest.

~~It has a 1.5 second cast time (it's a normal mount cast time)~~
It has no time duration, but it will only summon during Hallow's End
You can also purchase it for 150 Dulce de Halloween
It requires Apprentice Riding
It's a magic broom

Thus, one flies because that's its function (it was made with flying in mind), but the other one flies simply by magic.

EDIT - There seems to be no more cast time on the Escoba mágica, but you cannot cast while moving as you can with the Flying Broom. So not really a "flightform" replacement.

No cast time makes this item pretty useful - it's an instant mount, after all.
One use is speeding up any kind of fast farm - when you spend more time going from one mob to another than on killing.
Basically, if you always mount before mobs, the broom will lower your average killing time by 1.5 sec, and the higher your
kill rate is, the more extra boost you get. For example, at 400 kills/hour you get 20% faster farm with this. Personally, I find a boost to my Glándula de tósigo de colmillo de terror farming speed very nice

So when this event first started I got one and it had zero cast time and I could mount/unmount in mid air. I could fly up to the ceiling of the world, fall 90% of the way and remount yards before hitting the ground and fly off. I used this to farm a ton of ore last night and planned on doing the same today. I won another flying broom today and apparently you can't cast in mid air now or when moving, and there is a small cast time (short but not instant like it was).

Bummer.

I got the flying broom on the first day. I noticed they were selling the magic broom for 150 tricky treats. I bought this thinking it would be a mount I could keep. I was wrong. If you already have the flying broom, don't bother buying the magic broom.

I will calrify the difference between Escoba mágica and Flying Broom. So here they are:
Escoba mágica :

Instant cast
Can be used in BGs and arenas and anywhere where u can use ground mount.
Can be looted from Calabaza llena de botín
Also drops from Obsequio mal envuelto
Can be sold by Fondón (Horde) or Dorothy (Alliance) for 150xDulce de Halloween
Cannot be used while falling or running (like druids can use their flying form) - Thats the main difference between those brooms.
Has its duration limited by Hallow's end event.

Flying Broom:

Instant cast
Cant be used in BGs and arenas and anywhere u cant use fly mount.
Can be looted only from Calabaza llena de botín
Can be used while falling or running (like druids can use their flying form)
Has its duration limited by amount of days (so if u get it on last day of event u have 14 more days to use it still)

So if u do Archaeology its much more fun to use Flying Broom (like falling from huge distance then use it near the ground)
But if u do arenas/bgs, u need Escoba mágica.

You can no longer obtain the Flying Broom from the Calabaza llena de botín.

There were some mages abusing the mid-air instant cast feature and blinking through the wall to get to Isla de los MJ.

The Flying Broom has been replaced with Escoba mágica.

Found out an interesting bug with this broom. One of my characters was still mounted on it, but logged out when the item duration ended and the physical (or digital really) item was removed from my bags. However, as soon as I logged in on that character, I still had the mount buff applied to my character. Curious as to whether I could keep it or not, I queued up for and ran a random dungeon, then exited. And once again I appeared on my broom.
I suppose I could if I never dismounted in the outside world (at the expense of never buying any new gear, etc) I could potentially keep the buff, and thus the broom indefinitely. But that character does need new gear and he has VP to spend. :(
