First. Demonology warlock is so fun!
Affliction does feel weak which sucks, as Affliction just "feels" like a Warlock to me and is my favorite spec. Love curses and hexes. My biggest complaint is actually the loss of Drain Soul's heal. The rest is kinda the same with a few things moved around. Lost something, gained something. But the spec feels weak for sure. However, this is A) Beta, and B) expansion launch. We know how things get tweaked during an expansion cycle. Take my other favorite, Arcane Mage in Legion. When Legion launched, Arcane felt very weak. I went Fire for a while. And then... holy moly Blizzard! Now Arcane is one of the top dps specs imo. And I love it. I see the same for Affliction. At launch people are probably going to go to the FOTM Demonology spec. And that's okay. Sometime in the cycle Blizzard will visit Affliction and set things right again. Until then, gotta weather the storm.
Also, I know Shadowbolt is a community favorite and a lot of people like having it back, but I've never liked it. I dont know why. I just really liked and felt like Drain Soul was more in line with the "feel" of Affliction to me.
Would love to see some of the suggestions taken onboard by Blizzard, SE baseline and as close to the WOTLK / Cata incarnation as possible would be stellar - WOTLK / Cata affliction was the affliction I loved, and while I know a lot of people liked the MOP revamp I loathed it - a lot of the design choices in BFA seem to be leaning more in the older direction I loved. Also really wish they'd return Curse of Exhaustion as a means of providing a slow, happily lose the CD reduction talent on SB to have that as an option and let Destruction have the stun-niche.
I hope they add more exciting spell animations to affliction warlocks.
How do the different warlock specs compare for farming old content in BFA? Affliction has been really good in Legion, but losing Soul Flame will really slow things down when there's a lot of trash.
affliction's weakness was always adds that die quickly. Despite the changes, it's really my favorite spec, and I hope it is viable on BfA launch. With the artifact getting removed, and affliction relying so heavily on the artifact atm, it makes sense that some big changes are in order and a lot of tweaking is done.
Can I just say that every comment before me has been positive and constructive. Thanks!Affliction lock was my first spec and it would be good to use it again

Affliction has been the best solo character in legion, behaving much like the Demonology spec earlier. It was the go-to-character for all the harder elites and solo achivements - perfect for someone with a lot of free time and limited coordinating skills for group content, like me.ANY change is not welcomed by me!
MoP had all three specs. Destro was huge in SoO, Demo in ToT and Affliction to start the expansion.
Stupid opinions are stupid. This warlock thinks he knows warlock well but he doesn't. He's a fake warlock with stupid opinions. Affliction is really strong on the beta, especially with Rot and Decay talented. If you're having issues with staying alive as affliction on the beta you aren't using your full toolkit.
Good let's talk more about the warlocks, screw prot paladins! Noone cares about them having talents tey are never going to use!
It kinda feels like with the Deathbolt, they're steering Affliction to a sort of Necromancer-y thing. Tbh, I felt like Legion affliction was kinda boring. I'm hoping the new build will be more fun. If not, I'll just go back to Destro.
I created my affliction warlock just before the launch of Legion. So I don't have a pre-Legion impression of the spec to really compare to. I do agree that we needed some changes but I just hope that Blizz doesn't try to hack the spec to pieces in an effort to "push" people into other specs because Affliction was OP for so long. I would really like to see all three classes balanced against one another. This way anyone can choose what ever spec most fits their style.
First thing we should have both - shadow bolt and drain soul as baseline so we wouldnt lose mechanic from draining last targets hp to get soulshard and we could use shadow bolt as filler second thing - it completely makes NO SENSE to make affliction weak on multi target, this spec should be always better than other specs on multitarget, at least on spread multi targets.third thing - having drain soul and shadow embrace in different talents row makes no sense. like what the ^&*! would shadow embrace change when someone picks drain soul in first row ?
No Soul Flame? Seems one can't keep a good thing. Very sad.
No Life Tap? What? What's my rotation going to be?Currently Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction, Drain Soul.........with Life Tap when mana gets low.
