Vengeance Demon Hunter Gear Recommendations
This section of the Vengeance Demon Hunter guide covers everything about gear and Artifacts: stat priorities, Artifact Traits and which order to select them, gear recommendations from dungeons and raids, and legendary item rankings. Updated for the latest patch.
Rotation & Abilities
Gear and Stat Prioritization
Demon Hunters are a leather wearing class, with agility as their primary stat.
Crit: Crit increases both damage and healing, as well as giving parry. As all abilities can crit, this has the potential to increase our healing by a large amount, making the stat much more valuable when taking heavy magic damage, as our regular mitigation does not work against this.
Haste: Haste reduces the global cooldown. It also decreases the cooldowns on
Púas de demonio
Aura de inmolación
. This makes it effective for increasing the uptime of our abilities as well as our Active Mitigation.
Mastery: This stat increases the damage reduction on demon spikes, as well as increasing attack power, which in turn increases both our DPS and our healing done. This is because our healing is dependent on attack power. It gives 1.5x as much Mastery from gear too damage reduction.
Versatility: This is an all around stat. It reduces all damage taken, and increases healing done.
(with tier) Vers = Mastery > Haste > Crit
(without tier) Vers > Mastery >= Haste > Crit
M+ Survival: Mastery > Vers > Haste > Crit
DPS: Crit >= Versa >= Mastery >= Haste
Caveats for Surv and DPS
Surv - Mastery to the point in which you do not need anymore DR on DS. Personal Preference. No ratios or percentages to hit.
DPS - All the stats scale off each other, DO NOT go 100% into each one. Follow the prio. No ratios or percentages to hit.
There are no minimums, maximums will be listed once they become reachable. Just get as much stats as you can.
15+ ilvl pretty much always = equip it.
<=10 ilvl look at the itemization of the pieces.
Rings/Necks and Trinkets don't follow this rule outside of big gaps in ilvl
For Tier, there are 6 pieces this time around. Helm/Shoulders/Cloak/Chest/Gloves/Legs. Which one that is BiS for you depends on what else you have. If you get a good drop in a dungeon or a Titanforged version of something else, then it can shift this around. This list is meant purely for only doing raiding as a means of what bosses to coin if you need a particular upgrade. Here is a list of the priority list of the tier pieces to try and help accomodate the Titanforged system.

Baraja de la Luna Negra: Inmortalidad
: Constantly up Physical Damage Reduction. It's possibly the best defensive trinket for tanks
: High uptime, decent sized Haste Trinket.
: If you use it at certain points in the fight where you need a massive absorb.
Mandíbula de Estremefauce
: Decent Stamina trinket, with versatility on use. Becomes great in multi-target fights. Drops from Assault on the Violet Hold.
Campanilla para la cena de mayordomo
: Huge amount of secondary stats on a forgiving cooldown. If the interaction with food buffs is meant to be, it can be used for burst survival and dps.
Autobloqueador 601 de Gnomeregan
Timewarped Version: Long duration sizable Physical Damage Reduction.
Medalla al valor de la Primera Guerra
Timewarped Version: Short duration very large Physical Damage Reduction.
: Big chunk of all Secondary stats. Good both offensively and defensively
: Stacks on average to 2 stacks. Is only decent with high ilvl and only on Single Target.
Cáliz de icor de tormento
: Decent Vers, doesn't stack. Globs need to be kited until you need them, because they just refresh the duration and don't pandemic.
In some Strategies and Fights, it can have a high uptime, then is it A Tier.
Residuo de la Fuente de la Noche coagulado
: Is not to be used on cooldown. Save up the stacks for a big shield when you need it.
: Requires higher ilvl to be good. Should be used as much as possible.
Caparazón nerubiano impenetrable
: Haste with an Armor proc. Drops from Assault on the Violet Hold.
Stat Sticks: With Vers/Mastery. At similar item level; bear in mind higher item level ones are going to be a lot stronger.
Corazón avieso de la oscuridad
: Can be Ok Damage Reduction. With an ok amount of crit and only on Single Target.
Piedra de alquimista infernal
: Good Agility proc trinket. Crafted by Alchemists.
Espaldares de maestro de runas
: You get 1 charge of Demon Spikes and 1 charge of Empower Wards, both of which would have charged/almost charged all the way by the end of Meta. They aren’t needed during Meta except for very specific niche scenarios. This can be used in dungs for more CC. However it will still be largely considered the worst legendary.
Espíritu de la Llama Oscura
: Pretty good on AoE. Can be a decent sized heal at full stacks and especially if it crits. This is only the INSTANT damage. Burning Alive is not buffed by this. Not the greatest on ST. This is less damage than Cinidaria on ST. This works very well with Kirel Narak, Flame Crash and Abyssal Strike. Allowing you to get maximum uses out of it. This will be used more for the heal than the damage.
Odio renacido de Archimonde
: Looking to be the strongest Legendary. It also snapshots Meta buffs, so it will most likely be used at the tail end of a Fueled by Pain proc in order to maximize the shield and damage. The cd also lines up fairly well with FBPs 1 RPPM. This does not proc Charred Warblades as it isn’t a DH spell, HOWEVER Fiery Demise does buff it. This also procs leech effects, i.e. Soul Rending/Ring. This is the highest damaging legendary.
Cinidaria, la Simbionte
: Yayy leech for the first 20 sec of a fight where you are already incredibly strong… I guess… This does not proc base leech. Still going to be one of the better ones for damage.
Secreto de Sephuz
: The interrupt is amazing for us, and this will be procable on cooldown on trash as all sigils effect it as well as the interrupt. All non Flame sigils proc this as well as our interrupt. Allowing maximum uptime in dungeons of 33.3%
Prydaz, obra maestra de Xavaric
: This is looking to be one of the stronger legendaries as well. You can play around the cd and use it as a cooldown or instead of AM. Allowing you to recharge your DS charges or whatever CD you may have used otherwise. This does snapshot Meta if you have meta up at the 30 second mark. It also puts the shield on you at all times and not just during combat. Meaning you can go into the pull with a full shield and close to the 30 second rebuff mark in order to maximize the effectiveness of the buff. Effectively giving you over 1m damage buffer at the start of the fight.
Capa de llamas viles
: Used for Magic damage fights. You can hold Immolation Aura for a magic cooldown, however it is best to use Immolation Aura on cooldown for maximum dps and pain generation. This will be used on a per fight basis for maximum effectiveness. This is not to say that it can’t be useful as an all around choice as most every fight has a mix of physical and magical damage, and thus can be used for random DR here and there.
Fragmento de la Prisión del Traidor
: 15% leech isn’t the greatest, however with the massive uptime spike coming with Tier, this ring gets better. Getting this DOES NOT require you to go with Feed the Demon. Yes Feed does increase it’s effectiveness, however you can use Fracture still for more dps or in conjunction with Spirit Bomb and Soul Barrier.
Avambrazos perdidos del Rapiñador
: This is one of the strongest choices in dungeons. It reduces the cooldown on one of your 3 (4 with talent) sigils as long as they are on cooldown. What this means is that if you only cast Sigil of Flame, it will ONLY reduce the cooldown on Sigil of Flame. If you have 3 sigils on cooldown it will randomly pick amongst those 3.
: This is the other strong legendary for dungeons. Using this means that Burning Alive is pretty much required. Which makes this more of a M+ progression talent with its burst cooldown. You can use this in dungeons without Burning Alive purely for the damage increase or in conjunction with the gloves. When used with the gloves you can use Fiery Brand multiple times in a pull for a massive heal and damage increase.
Finding Gear on Wowhead
From simple recommendations to advanced filters, Wowhead can help you find the gear you want.
is a great way to search for gear if you are new to Wowhead's filtering system.
Choose what item category, gear slot, and class specialization you're interested in, and it will return results for you. You can further narrow it down by source--including gear from LFR and heroic dungeons.
You can find the Item Finder via Tools > Item Finder or Database > Items > Item Finder.
returns personalized gear suggestions for you and shows which content has the most upgrades.
Simply load up the
with you preferred character and it will list gear recommendations in a 20 ilvl range for you. It will also list how many gear upgrades each boss has so you can plan out bonus rolls. Finally, the character planner will perform an audit and let you know if you have any missing enchants, glyphs, or gems.
If you have a character in our
which is great for tracking vanity collections and viewing your character in our 3D modelviewer, you can click on the "Planner" button in the header to access the tool. If you don't, you can just enter your information in at Tools > Character Planner.
Wowhead utilizes a powerful system of item filters to narrow down the gear you need.
, you can enter in some basic options at the top--the name of the item, its item level, the level the players needs to be. The "Usable by" dropdowns cover factions, class, and role.
The dropdown menu right above "Stat Weights" opens to display a variety of advanced options. These cover the following:
General item info such as Added in Expansion/Patch, BoE/BoP, Unique-Equipped, Class-Specific.
Stats: All primary stats, secondary stats, defensive stats, and weapon stats.
Source: All in-game sources, ranging from raid difficulties to the Black Market Auction House to sold by a vendor.
Miscellaneous: Many of these filters are not relevant to equippable gear such as Crafting Reagents and Toys, but you can filter for items that are currently obtainable.
Once you've selected a filter from the menu, click on Apply filter for search results. You can repeat the process to filter for multiple criteria at once--for example, Agility gear that is found in Mythic Foundry.
Over on the right-hand side of the page, you can select a particular Gear Slot or Quality to narrow results even further.
Finally, you can quickly view a subset of items at once using the Database Menus. Head to Database > Items and mouseover the Weapon and Armor options for quick links to gear arranged by armor type and slot.
