5.3 PTR Preview: Earth Day, Doritos Locos Sponsorship, Auras, and More!
There are some major changes coming to World of Warcraft from the latest PTR patch. There's some really exciting stuff, including a new holiday and auras that will allow you to cosmetically alter your character to varying degrees. Both Perculia and I have been hard at work on the PTR getting screenshots of these changes and uncovering the latest details.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Announced, Official Press Release, FAQ, and Artwork
Today at PAX East, Blizzard announced that they have had a fifth team working on another game. Comprised of fifteen developers, the idea was to make a great game that got back to Blizzard's roots by having something fun and less serious.
The game is called Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and it is an online strategy card game.

Hearthstone is "a charming collective strategy card game set in the Warcraft universe." You can play as nine different mighty heroes with different focuses. There will be commons, rares, epics, and even legendary cards. It will be free-to-play with optional purchases for cards; there's also something called a crafting system, where you will be able to change your cards by disenchanting them into arcane dust which will let you build other cards.

25-Player Raid Changes: Thunderforged Items Coming to the PTR Soon
Blizzard just posted a head's up on Thunderforged items--explaining what these higher quality items are and how they will drop in both normal and heroic modes. They should be hitting the PTR soon for the community to check out!
These items have a chance to drop from 5.2 raid bosses and will have a higher chance to drop in 25s. Ever since Cataclysm, 25-player raiding has steadily declined in popularity, so hopefully this will be an incentive for players to stick with the format.
Coming to the PTR in the near future will be a new designation of item type in Normal and Heroic raids for non-tier pieces. Each 5.2 raid boss will have a chance of dropping this new designation of a particular item that’s 6 item levels higher than their counterparts. These higher quality versions will be called “Thunderforged”. This means that there will be five variations of some items. You’ll now see a 5.2 raid item of LFR quality at item level 502, the same item in Normal quality at item level 522, the item in Normal Thunderforged quality at item level 528, the Heroic version of the item at level 535, and the Heroic Thunderforged version of the item at level

5.2 PTR - Build 16408 - New Items, Spell Changes, Tier 15 Armor
It looks like Blizzard is really keeping their promise of the PTR being more rapid. A PTR patch just hit and it's full of new stuff, welcoming 5.2 onto the PTR right before the holidays! Fun stuff includes dinosaur mounts, new Tier 15 armor models, and Darkmoon Faire hats that grant experience boosts.

10 and 25-man Lockouts No Longer Shared in 5.1 on KR Realms
So it's starting to look like 5.1 might have some surprises in store for raiders. The Korean World of Warcraft website
had this update today
stating that in 5.1, 10 and 25-man lockouts will no longer be shared for KR realms--a call back to the days of Wrath of the Lich King where the lockouts were separate and many considered 25-man raids to be vastly more beneficial than 10-man raids. Additionally, 10 and 25-man ilevels will be different giving raiders a further benefit for tackling 25-man raids.
Of course, it remains unseen if this will transition at any point to other realms. At this time, it doesn't appear to be the case.
However, if you look at World of Warcraft's recent PvE scene, it's been obvious that there's a decline in 25-mans that's both felt by the community and heard by the developers. There isn't really a reason to raid 25-mans over 10-mans, as far as time versus reward is concerned; it's hard to maintain a 25-man roster and remain competitive in today's Azeroth. Even world firsts are being tackled by 10-mans

Hallow's End is one of my favorite holidays in World of Warcraft. Running from from

, the holiday invites players to gather candy, wands, food, masks, and even vanity pets from inn keepers all over the in-game world.
Event Changes
While there weren't as many changes in 2012 as there were in 2011, there's a few new things this holiday season.
Much like the Brewfest items had been, all Hallow's End rings (plus the helmet and sword) have been upgraded to ilevel 470 making them pretty useful this time around!

Method Achieves World First 25-man Heroic Mogu'Shan Vaults Clear

Brewfest (Sept. 27th to Oct. 13th) Guide
Celebrated by both the Horde and the Alliance, the Brewfest is a time to enjoy the fermented fruits of the harvest: pretzels, cheese, and booze! The competing breweries Thunderbrew, Barleybrew, and the Ogres, all come together outside of all the major cities in a bid to outdo each other with their special ales, meads, and beers. Brave adventurers are invited to sit back, take a pull, and sample the finest wares these brewers have to offer!
