Rarity: 1/363 booster packs (speculative)
Distribution: Servants of the Betrayer booster boxes contain 24 boosters and cost approx $65 USD (inc. shipping), therefore the average cost of obtaining this particular loot is $923.00

How much would I expect to pay for one off eBay or similar?
According to http://www.wowtcgloot.com/x51_netherrocket_xtreme.htm (most information sourced from there), the expansion was released on the 15th of April 2008 and the set loots are X-51 Nether-Rocket EXTREME, Goblin Weather Machine, and Papa Hummel's Pet Biscuit. Average price for the Nether Rocket loot is around $360USD and slowly rising.

Facts:

The shape is Slim Pickens-style.
You receive one rare and one epic item version when you redeem the code (free).
The level 60 mount (rare) and the level 70 mount (epic) can be traded in-game.
Both the rare and epic version can be learned by one character.
When learned, each rocket mount counts toward the Mountain 'o Mounts achievement (Horde or Alliance).

Blizzard has announced that the "removal" of the BoP flag on most TCG mounts is intended and expected to go live ( Blue Post ):

In the upcoming content patch 3.2, Call of the Crusade, we are changing the Upper Deck Trading Card Game mounts to be Bind-on-Use instead of Bind-on-Pickup. This will allow players to sell newly redeemed TCG mounts in-game through the trade window, Auction House or via CoD. The primary goal behind this change is to help reduce the number of players who are getting scammed by trading for an invalid mount code. As part of this update, the NPC vendor functionality currently in place for these mounts will be removed, and instead the mount (both epic and non-epic when applicable), will now be immediately placed in your inventory upon the verified redemption of the code. If you have already redeemed one of these codes and have not purchased both the epic and non-epic versions from the vendor window, it's important that you do so before the patch is released.

This update will affect the Spectral Tiger, Swift Spectral Tiger, X-51 Nether-Rocket, X-51 Nether-Rocket X-TREME, Big Battle Bear, and Magic Rooster Egg. Items that were obtained before the patch will not be affected by this change and will continue to be soulbound to the character that purchased them.

They are not so much as removing the BoP flag as they are creating a new item without it.

Pulled an X-51 Nether-Rocket card without a code on it. I'm a little upset that they'd make a non-loot AND a loot version of this card.

Be warned if you're buying boxes of card. Just buy it off eBay if you're looking to get the mount; save yourself the time and hassle, not to mention lots of opened packs with useless cards. Unless, of course, you play the TCG.

In Cataclysm, mounts will scale to your highest riding skill, meaning this mount can potentially be a 280% or 310% speed mount. This should bring the price up considerably on this mount to be as much as the epic item.

Well I got this via the Landro card in the Cata deluxe but didn't get the purple version of the rocket just the blue. Is it because I used the Landro card versus redeeming the actual rocket card?

Just an FYI, these mounts are now available AGAIN, through the Reign of Fire TCG. ( my son grabbed a deck at Wally World..lol I about fell over, 2 mounts for $3.98, and they are not BOP, so you can sell/trade them. Yay!

I picked up this mount during cata for 152g on the AH. I presume somebody made and error posting it for that price or did not know what its value was. need less to say I was stoked! I was expecting a message from the seller perhaps in the following days but none came.

This mount, along with the swift shorestrider are becoming VERY rare with the removal of the TCG card system a little while back. If you are a mount collector like me, I would try and scoop one up ASAP before they all possibly disappear. Both of the mounts I mentioned have not been on my server for a long time and I am kicking myself for not buying them earlier in the game, as now the prices of them are soaring, and the amounts available are dropping. So if you are lucky enough to find one, have the gold to purchase, and do want them I would not wait for a second opportunity. Goodluck all and happy hunting!

Way back in the day, probably 2008/2009 or so around when this mount was released, did anyone ever see a YouTube video with a female night elf (druid maybe?) going around stormwind showcasing a bunch of TCG items/pets, with this carnival/circus-sounding song playing in the background (might sound like this or whatever https://youtu.be/jMPqrLJgmyE), then Jolly Roger's Lagoon from Banjo Tooie starts playing (https://youtu.be/MGPncRJWcJc), she hearths to shattrath, and starts riding around on an x-51 nether-rocket (might've been the blue one?). I've been looking for this vid for forever, and was wondering if anyone actually remembers it, had it saved, the URL, or something like that, etc.
