Explanation of 4.3 Balance Changes, Part One
27/09/2011 a las 17:35
Back in June, I wrote a blog explaining the context behind some of the changes in the upcoming patch that might not be intuitively obvious. That blog ended up being one of the most popular ones we’ve ever done; even players who disagreed with the specific changes appreciated our explanations for what we were trying to accomplish. Therefore, we’d like to continue in that fashion and we figured there was no reason to wait until 4.3 was "on the shelves" to get the ball rolling.
One note before I dive into things. If you haven’t read the previous blog, "Rate of Change," now might be a good time. There are some changes that we want to make to class mechanics or balance in general that we don’t think are fair or appropriate to spring on players in the middle of an expansion. These include things like the power of interrupts or the active mitigation model we want to implement for tanks. We’ll get there, but in short term we fundamentally believe that it’s important to pick our battles.
On with the show. Note that most of these changes are mech

This new feature allows players to customize their gear like never before. You'll find Transmogrification, Void Storage, and Reforging vendors in Cathedral Square, Stormwind and The Drag, Orgrimmar. The costs associated with this service are not yet final.
In addition to the bank, players will now have access to a new "deep storage" system, allowing characters to free bag space by setting aside coveted gear. You'll find Transmogrification, Void Storage, and Reforging vendors in Cathedral Square, Stormwind and The Drag, Orgrimmar. The costs associated with this service are not yet final.
The former Reforging vendors have been... retired. The ethereals have chosen to take over the business and joined their Transmogrification and Void Storage service providers. You'll find them in Cathedral Square, Stormwind and The Drag, Orgrimmar.

News Round Up: Sylvanas Windrunner Story and Bashiok's Notes
27/09/2011 a las 14:43
Just two quick updates for today: Bashiok posted some fairly hilarious transcriptions of his notes from the TBC era, very fun to read. Blizzard also finally posted another leader story for you lore junkies!
Hopefully the recent silence means patch notes tonight or tomorrow and a PTR to play on this weekend!
Bashiok's "Unintelligible" Notes
I've kept most of my note pads since I've been on the community team, circa pre-BC, and upon going over them I realize two things: that people may enjoy remembering some old game changes I happened to write down, and secondly probably not because my note taking back then was usually so horrible that no sense can be made of them.
Here we go. (spelling and grammatical errors intact)

Feature Spotlight: Wowhead Guides
25/09/2011 a las 13:27
We've recently started a section featuring user-submitted guides at Wowhead, building upon our popular series of weekend and holiday guides. With a section solely devoted to guides, we hope that the users--you--will use it to learn more about specific angles of WoW, as well as to create a new community of writers that provides constructive criticism and feedback. It's also a great way to get some extra publicity for your blog and additional hits by cross-posting some of your popular guide-themed posts to Wowhead.
Below, I'm going to highlight some of our great user-submitted guides and go over tips that help me with my weekly guides. I hope that this "guide to writing guides" inspires you to submit your own!

4.3 Preview: Tier 13 Set Bonuses
24/09/2011 a las 20:17
Even more Saturday news--Blizzard released the Tier 13 set bonuses this evening. We're still waiting on visual armor previews for some classes, but it's always fun to start theorycrafting and speculating in advance. Some bonuses like Rogue 2-piece seem predictable based on past set bonuses, while tanking ones like Warrior 4-piece (free
Palabra de poder: barrera
?) seem problematic--creating "mandatory" set bonuses like raidwalls lead to balancing issues in later tiers.
Zahrym also hinted that 4.3 may be on the PTR as soon as next week--specifically Transmogrification and Void Storage right away. Other content like dungeons, the new legendary, and the Raid Finder will follow at a later time.
While we’ve been previewing the visuals of tier 13 on the front page at http://
, we thought you might be interested in the magics that lay imbued betwixt their stitches and plating. Behold -- the tier 13 set bonuses!
Please keep in mind that the below data is pre-PTR and could change prior to the release of patch 4.3.

4.3 Preview: Spectral Mounts
24/09/2011 a las 11:06
Blizzard hinted on Twitter that this Saturday they would share some mount pictures; since it's been the weekend longer in certain regions, it looks like images are cropping up on their Korean version of the website.
In particular, they're showing two very ghostly mounts--each one faction specific. Pretty cool. We'll have to see if they're related to the Darkmoon Faire or the new 5-mans; they are certainly creepy enough to belong on a spooky island, though, aren't they? There was an interview last week that mentioned the raid mount being a red dragon with ornate details, so I doubt these are the specific raid mounts players can obtain.
4.3 Rogue Legendary Preview

Everyone was curious how Blizzard could out-do the on-use effect of Dragonwrath--well, they've just released a preview of the 4.3 legendary daggers!
Happy Friday, everyone!
We'd like to get this day started by offering you a first look at the legendary daggers coming with the patch 4.3 raid, Dragon Soul. We've got them set up on a night elf rogue wearing the upcoming tier 13 armor.
4.3 Preview: Paladin Tier 13 Battleplate of Radiant Glory
21/09/2011 a las 20:19
Adventurers will be tested like never before in 4.3 as they take on Deathwing and his minions, emerging with powerful new treasures. Please enjoy this preview of the paladin tier 13 set, as well as a visual guide to tiers 1 through 12 for Transmogrification purposes.
Battleplate of Radiant Glory
Design requested a set to ‘key off the Guardian of Ancient Kings summon,’ and I though the concept of ‘feathered’ plate mail, rendered in silver and gold, would create an aggressive, yet sweeping and powerful silhouette. The previous paladin raid set had a good deal of cloth, but we wanted this set to be entirely platemail.
The key to a strong paladin tier is hitting a balance between martial prowess and elegant grace -- tapping into that classic Arthurian knight archetype.

Set pieces from all three difficulty levels can still be mixed and matched for the 2- and 4-piece bonuses.

A "bat-themed" armor set for rogues seems like a no-brainer, but we were careful to skirt the more obvious inspirations. World of Warcraft often makes playful references to pop culture, but it’s important -- particularly with player gear -- that what we create has integrity within our universe. Rogues look good in close-fitting masks, collars, and cowls rather than elaborate armored helms. It also helps reinforce the rogue's sneaky silhouette if the shoulder pads have a streamlined shape... even if that shape has sharp, bladed details.

Celebrated by both the Horde and the Alliance,
Fiesta de la Cerveza
is a time to enjoy the fermented fruits of the harvest: pretzels, cheese, and booze! The competing breweries Thunderbrew, Barleybrew, and the Ogres, all come together outside of all the major cities in a bid to outdo each other with their special ales, meads, and beers. Brave adventurers are invited to sit back, take a pull, and sample the finest wares these brewers have to offer!
During Brewfest, players can acquire the title Brewmaster, collect fun mounts like
Carnero de la Fiesta de la Cerveza presto
, and get epics like
Posavasos de cromo helado de Coren
. Major quest hubs are located outside of Ironforge and Orgrimmar.
Brewfest, based on Oktoberfest, runs from September 20 through October 5. Our very own Miyari put together an excellent guide for the holiday, covering every achievement there is as well as the series of dailies the event offers.
This year, trinkets and other items have been upgraded to ilevel 365 and are definitely worth checking out!
