Introducing Torhead for Star Wars: The Old Republic
20/11/2011 a las 23:49
A couple of our favorite administrators here at Wowhead have been in a galaxy far far away, toiling away overtime on a special project of ours as of late. You see, we love MMORPGs and we're always trying out other games besides World of Warcraft. As we got further into the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta, we really liked what BioWare was doing, so we decided to bring what we've learned from Wowhead to new database: Torhead.
Torhead replicates the quality you've come to love on Wowhead. Featuring the same tools and features we've been offering World of Warcraft players for so long, the only difference between the databases is that this one is for SWTOR!
With that said, please join me in welcoming Torhead to the Wowhead family. This is the first website we've released since Wowhead that's shared our name and we're really proud to be its sister site--both in name and spirit. It's a huge step for us and one we're all excited to see happen for BioWare's new epic.
And if you're not into Star Wars: The Old Republic, don't worry! Wowhead's focus hasn't changed and its staff is still fully engrosse

4.3 Battlegrounds Will Award Conquest Points
17/11/2011 a las 11:14
Very interesting news: non-rated battlegrounds will now give you 50 conquest points per win. You will be able to reach the weekly conquest cap without having to ever step foot in a ranked game.
You have to wonder if part of the reason isn't because season 11 gear looks amazing for transmogrification purposes! (Kidding--mostly.)
4.3 Conquest Point Changes
In patch 4.3 we’re changing the daily battleground (BG) to reward 100 conquest for a win (up from 25). In addition, every non-rated BG that you win will also give you 50 conquest. There is no limit to how many BGs you can run this way, up to the normal conquest cap.
Our intent is to start acting even more on our Mists of Pandaria philosophies of encouraging players to approach the content they want to, how they want to, and be able to work toward meaningful player progression. Arenas and rated battlegrounds will still earn Conquest faster, but with this change you can now work your way up by running normal BGs, if you so choose.

SWTOR Beta Key Giveaway
14/11/2011 a las 12:13
Star Wars: The Old Republic is coming out next month and the beta has been in gear for quite some time. Many of the Wowhead staff members, myself included, have spent their share of time with the force lately and loved it. Unfortunately, the beta has been hard to get into for many fans beyond a weekend stress test. This week, however, we've got a chance for you to get in easily!
Our parent site, ZAM, is giving away 25,000 beta keys for SWTOR on a first come, first serve basis. Yes, 25,000 keys. We'd love for you to support them by entering their giveaway and trying out SWTOR. All you have to do is sign-up for a ZAM account and you get a free key instantly sent to you--while supplies last, of course.
Please note that this is a key for their next testing phase, which will start shortly--BioWare will be emailing you an invite based on the email you redeem the code with.
Click here to get your free Star Wars: The Old Republic beta key while supplies last.
Oh, and as a disclaimer: this post isn't the place to start SWTOR versus WoW wars. Save that for another website; we love all kinds of MMORPGs here at Wowhead.
Introducing Wowhead's Mists of Pandaria Guide
13/11/2011 a las 09:48
Mists of Pandaria was announced last month, but Wowhead has a strong tradition of expansion guides--and this expansion will be no different.
Today we're excited to launch a preliminary version of Wowhead's Mists of Pandaria Guide that organizes all the coverage from BlizzCon as well subsequent coverage from Blizzard. We've included screenshots, BlizzCon transcripts, and blue posts to make the information easy to reference. More importantly, this guide will be updated quite frequently to stay current as we learn even more details about the expansion.
Here's a peak inside, with links to each guide page:

Explanation of 4.3 Balance Changes, Part Two
11/11/2011 a las 11:03
It's a holiday for some, but Blizzard was at work releasing a new blog this morning--Ghostcrawler shared more of his thoughts on the class and balance changes in 4.3. Many classes received detailed explanations about upcoming changes--such as Holy Radiance, Mortal Strike, Fire Mage buffs, and bear form Stamina. However, rogues weren't mentioned at all--and it would have been interesting to hear more thoughts on Blizzard's concerns from the live Q&A how rogues were underrepresented in raiding and their perceived lack of utility.

While we have completed a lot of work, it’s just hard to know at this stage when the patch will be ready. Class Design & Balance Live Q&A and Transcript
09/11/2011 a las 12:40
Fresh from the success of the recent live Q&A about Mists of Pandaria, Blizzard hosted another live Q&A today at 10:45 am PST.
Today's chat was with the class design team, covering the past, present, and future of World of Warcraft classes. As with the last Q&A, we updated the transcript live and provided highlights of the chat. There were so many questions this round, with the whole class design team present, so we broke down the highlights by class to make it easier to browse!
The current 5.0 model is that there are 8 raid buffs: health, attack power, spell power, melee haste, spell haste, crit, mastery and stats.

PvP Season 10 Ending Soon, And Point Sellback Conversion Policy
09/11/2011 a las 11:20
Arena and Rated Battleground Season 10 is scheduled to end as early as November 15. At that point we will determine who is eligible for the end-of-season rewards, a process that should take approximately one week. It's very important for players who feel that they may be eligible for Arena titles and/or the Vicious Gladiator’s Twilight Drake to refrain from transferring their characters to another realm or faction until after Season 10 ends. During the break between seasons, all Rated Battleground and Arena matches will be unavailable.
At the end of the season, Conquest Points will be converted to Honor Points, possibly exceeding the 4,000 point Honor cap. All Season 10 items will cost Honor Points (equivalent to their previous Conquest Point cost) when the season ends, with the exception of any items with rating requirements attached. These items will no longer be available for purchase.
Please be aware that higher ilvl PvP items will be introduced and available for Honor points with patch 4.3.
The next Arena and Rated Battleground season will begin for level-85 players approximately one week after the end of Season 10 and will coincide with t
News Round Up: WoW Loses 800k More Subscribers, Mists of Pandaria Interview, and More
08/11/2011 a las 20:09
Blizzard had their third quarterly call for the year that reported losses. World of Warcraft lost 800,000 subscribers for this quarter--following a 600k loss this May and 300k subscriber loss in August over the past two quarters.
In the call, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said the majority of subscriptions lost came from China and other countries in the East. They also declined to provide a forecast for future numbers. However, though this may seem like a shocking number, you have to remember that this is during a lull in the expansion. Without major content patches, WoW tends to lose subscribers only to regain them during an expansion's launch. Here's to hoping Mists of Pandaria brings players back!
Without further ado, here's the news round up.

New Site Feature: Transmogrification Sets
08/11/2011 a las 13:07
Transmogrification is one of the most hyped features in the upcoming 4.3 patch. And since we're the main World of Warcraft database, the pressure has been on us to create some tools for our users to find what they'll be wearing. As such, we've been working on some pretty awesome features as a team in addition to our usual workload since it was first announced this August.
With that in mind, I'm pleased to announce that we're launching phase one of our transmogrification features today. More are coming in the following weeks, but we think you'll like this one a lot so we decided to get it out the door and on Wowhead!
In short, this phase is all about transmogrification sets. A transmogrification set is a set of gear that matches, even if Blizzard doesn't always call it a set--and we've combined over 1,100 of them for this feature in the past few months.
From alternate recolors of tier 10 to awesome low-level BoE sets to matching gear from troll heroics, the content team has added almost every unique set you could possibly want. If you're a warlock who wants to look like a priest or a paladin who feels more like a warrior, we've also got you covered; these are labeled as "look-al
