50 Easy Elders: Getting the Lunar Festival Pet

The biggest draw of the 2012 Lunar Festival is the new vanity pets--but the catch is that the Festival vendors sell different ones to each faction for 50 Coins of Ancestry. However, the pets are BoE, so we'll show you the easiest way to get 50 Elders if you rolled an alt for the pet, but got stumped after ??-level guards one-shot you in Brill. Whether you want to sell extra pets for gold, roll a toon on the opposite faction to put the pet on the Neutral AH, or don't have enough tokens on your main to buy everything you want (like engineers), this guide can help.
This guide provides maps and tables organized by difficulty level for each faction. For Elders that are tricky or located far away from flight paths, I've also provided tips to reach them without dying, after personal experience on my 58 deathknight and 62 mage.
For the purposes of this guide, I will assume that you only have ground riding. Deathknights have flight paths in 1-60 zones learned automatically, so getting to 60 for a Flight Master's License is not that important if your'e that class. However, you will be able to get 4+ more Elders easily with flying.
Tips and Notes
If you are rolling an alt on the opposite faction to smuggle the pet over on the neutral AH:
Rolling a Deathknight is best because you have a decent amount of health and gold (all those flight paths add up!) at level 58, and can quest easily for level 60 and 225 Flying--requiring before discounts.
However, since most players already have a Death Knight on their main faction, they will be leveling a toon from scratch. For Alliance, night elves are good because of

as an aggro drop. Classes with speed boosts to get away from guards and aggro drops are also good--like mages and rogues. Mages are also great for teleports.
Get talents and glyphs that boost your speed, such as:

For medium/hard Elders, macros could mean the difference between completing a quest and being nuked down by guards. First, bind 'Interact with Target,' found under Key Bindings > Targeting Functions. This will open up the quest with the Elder without having to right-click--helpful if you've just clicked to accept a rez.
Once the dialogue box is opened up with the Elder, spam this macro:

Take the Path all the way down, past Wyrmrest Temple. When you reach the sea, turn right and hop down the cliffs.
You'll now be at the Moa'ki Harbor beach--the town is nearby.

Star's Rest:

Rainspeaker Rapids:
You'll want to get a summon to River's Heart in the center of the zone first--that's the hardest part.
Ride north through the Oracle's encampment in Rainspeaker Canopy. People are always doing dailies here, so the surrounding area may be cleared of hostile mobs as well.
Stay mounted up and hug the river where the map turns brown. There will be small waterfalls and cliffs at points--you will need to circle around.
If you stay close enough to the river, the undead by The Lost Lands will not have time to catch up with you before you get to the Elder on the northern part of the river.

Take the northern bridge out of Valiance Keep, riding through Farshire. May aggro some undead.
Skirt the edges of the Bloodspore Plains as you head west, staying towards the lake. After the plains, you will find wolves that may easily aggro/kill you at lower levels.
The Elder is to the north of the town, but a level 68 Crypt Guard is nearby--have enough health to take a few hits or spam a macro.

After getting the K3 Elder, ride to the northeast, past Garm's Bane and to the ledge. You may die a few times along the way.
Jump off the ledge of Storm Peaks, dying and rezzing in Zul'Drak by Thrym's End.
Ride east, trying to reach the Argent Stand. If you die, you can spirit rez at Heb'Valor, which is very close.
Take the eastern road out of the Argent Stand, heading north (left) at the fork. This is a main road and won't have too much aggro.

From the Westfall Brigade Encampment, take the southern central road.
When you reach the hill with the village, circle around it instead of riding up to the top and through--that village is not the camp and it is hostile.
The deer are not hostile in this zone, but you will aggro wolves (if they are not fighting the deer).
The Elder is not in the camp proper, but the small cliff he overlooks is in aggro range of vendors and guards, so be prepared to spam your macro and die several times.

Wait for the Sentinel to despawn and then rez, spamming your macro. You'll have a few seconds before the he calls for help again.

Even if the guard is summoned, you can stand practically in the water and spam the macro upon rezzing, getting the quest before the guard attacks.

Cenarion Enclave:
The biggest challenge is making it across The Veiled Sea.
If you have a flying mount, this part is a little bit easier--you will still die of fatigue on a slow mount, but you can fly up the island to Darnassus instead of dealing with the teleport.
Head north for Lor'danel, watching the shades of the water on the minimap, trying to stay within the lighter areas as much as possible.
Once you leave the lighter water, you'll be in a fatigue zone.
If you are just swimming, you will definitely die several times from fatigue--will be better with a flying mount or water walking elixir.
Dying while fatigued will port you to a graveyard by the Ruins of Auberdine, so it's a long run back.
You can rez while fatigued, getting a few more feet if swimming.
Once at Rut'Theran village, make your way to the northern-most part of the island. There's a route up the hill that is free from guards.
High-level Sentinels guard the teleport to Darnassus, so you will most likely die. Try to rez as close as possible to the teleport.
Once ported to Darnassus, you will probably die again from guards at the top. This time, you will rez in Dolanaar, in the center of Teldrassil.
Take the spirit rez and ride back through the zone to Darnassus, sticking to the outskirts and mountains forming the Northern city border. You shouldn't aggro any guards this way--until you actually reach the NPC in the Cenarion Enclave.
The Elder is standing on one side of the stairs--with a
Protector de Darnassus
on the other side. As the Protector only melees, you have a few seconds to talk to the Elder before he runs over and punches you in the face.
You could also get to Teldrassil by sneaking into Stormwind Harbor and taking the boat across--but we'll assume you're starting from Darkshore since there's an elder there.

Stick to the river and grasslands, not the cultist areas.

The Dunwald Ruins:
Enter via Wetlands, the path by Grim Batol will be empty due to phasing.
Can get to Victor's Point without aggroing any mobs, but you may die to dragons to the south.
You'll rez in Crushblow--can spirit rez there, as it's close to the Elder.
The Dunwald area will be filled with level 85 mobs, run around the edge and then get as far as you can, aiming for the letter 's' in the word 'Ruins' on the map.
Rez in a good location close to the Elder when the mobs have patted far away from you as possible, and spam your macro.
Also, can wait until you see someone clearing out the area with questing.

Take the flight (automatically learned) from Warsong Hold to Dalaran.
Use the teleportation crystal to port down to Crystalsong Forest.
Avoiding wolves, ride through the southwest part of the zone into Dragonblight.
It will be convenient for later NPCs to pick up the flightpath at Sunreaver's Command, close by to the entrance of Dragonblight--a little more inconvenient for Horde than for Alliance, but still easy to reach.
Once in northern Dragonblight, you'll be in a gauntlet with 80+ worms--it's good to die.
Take the spirit rez at The Crystal Vice. This will have saved you some travel time and place you right at the Path of the Titans, an aggro-free road.
Take the Path all the way down, past Wyrmrest Temple. When you reach the sea, turn right and hop down the cliffs.
You'll now be at the Moa'ki Harbor beach--the town is nearby.

Surprisingly, getting this from Warsong Hold is trickier than it would seem because the nearby roads are covered in hostile mobs. It's best to do after getting either the Moa'ki Harbor or Star's Rest NPCs, because the eastern roads in Borean are devoid of mobs.
Ride west from Star's Rest (or take the boat from Moa'ki Harbor to Unu'pe in Borean).
The green patch on the minimap will have some level 70 mobs, but you can ride pretty far mounted up. The wildlife around D.E.H.T.A. is not hostile.

The initial entrance to The Storm Peaks will be devoid of mobs. There will be a few kobolds as you head east to K3, but you should be able to stay mounted up.

Keep following the road south, and you'll soon find the Elder outside the settlement.

Once at Moa'ki Harbor, head north through the wolvar village. A speed boost is useful here as you will be riding through a zone with level 70+ mobs.
The goal is to reach the start of the western road--you may die a few times along the way.
Once on the road, it is relatively free from aggro as long as you stick to it.
There are a few polar bears you may aggro as the Elder is overlooking a cliff outside the town.

Rainspeaker Rapids:
You'll want to get a summon to River's Heart in the center of the zone first--that's the hardest part.
Ride north through the Oracle's encampment in Rainspeaker Canopy. People are always doing dailies here, so the surrounding area may be cleared of hostile mobs as well.
Stay mounted up and hug the river where the map turns brown. There will be small waterfalls and cliffs at points--you will need to circle around.
If you stay close enough to the river, the undead by The Lost Lands will not have time to catch up with you before you get to the Elder on the northern part of the river.

After getting the K3 Elder, ride to the northeast, past Garm's Bane and to the ledge. You may die a few times along the way.
Jump off the ledge of Storm Peaks, dying and rezzing in Zul'Drak by Thrym's End.
Ride east, trying to reach the Argent Stand. If you die, you can spirit rez at Heb'Valor, which is very close.
Take the eastern road out of the Argent Stand, heading north (left) at the fork. This is a main road and won't have too much aggro.

Trickier than you think as the roads in central Borean are covered in hostile mobs.
Take the road south from Warsong Hold--you will die at some point.
Take the spirit rez at Riplash Strand and continue heading east on that new road.
Once on the beach by Valiance Keep, you'll aggro the large Nerubians if they're not engaged by an Alliance NPC--you may die several times here as well.
The NPC is outside the town to the north, but near a vendor that will aggro. Best to spam your macro.
