Dialogue Between Bolvar, Thrall, and Jaina Following End of Sylvanas Encounter (Spoilers)
09/07/2021 a las 15:00
Following the conclusion of the Sylvanas encounter, Bolvar, Thrall, and Jaina have a discussion. Story spoilers.
Thrall: We thought the Jailer was coming to slay the Arbiter. But he... absorbed her essence.
Bolvar: As if his power--and the sigil--were his all along.
Jaina: Jailer be damned! He's got Anduin. No matter where he's gone, we will find him!
Thrall: Maybe she knows.
Jaina: Yes. Sylvanas said something before she collapsed, but I couldn't make it out.
Bolvar: My knights will hold her captive here in Oribos. When she awakens, we can begin the interrogation.
Bolvar: For now, we should return to Korthia. Let us hope the Primus can explain the Jailer's plan...and tell us what must be done to stop him.
While this short dialogue doesn't have any major reveals, there's a few interesting discussion points:
This dialogue hints that Sylvanas holds knowledge that could be the key to finding the Jailer's whereabouts. (Outside of the game, a
close reading of lore texts
points to the Sepulcher of the First Ones as his final destination to unmake the universe.)
We learn that Sylvanas'
final words from the cinematic
were not overheard by Jaina, Bolvar, and Thrall. Only the player is aware of what she said, and Sylvanas didn't finish her sentence before collapsing. It's unclear if she was going to reveal the Jailer's whereabouts, or if the "Courage" part of her soul was trying to prevent Arthas from reaching the Sunwell.
None of the NPCs comment on Sylvanas' eyes or her complete soul, so perhaps they were too far away to see her transformation before her collapse. This could complicate their plans for a trial if they expect to interrogate the Banshee Queen and instead find a new character who is horrified by her other soul's actions.
The desire to interrogate Sylvanas parallels Garrosh's trial arc in War Crimes, but as we've seen their stories diverge in the past, we expect this trial to proceed differently as well. The issue of the split soul questions Sylvanas' agency over her actions, and complicates how her victims will react to the news--as the character they want justice (or vengeance) for has been transformed.
