Today's Community Spotlight goes to
Queen Ishura
whose very fun blog,
Mimiron’s Library
, delves into the minutia of Azeroth. The post that caught our eye is their ever so geeky visual look at Azeroth's population density and the statistics gleaned from it. Queen Ishura sourced her information from the now de-canonized
World of Warcraft: the Roleplaying Game
, and canon or not, these numbers are fun to look at.
"...even though this is a post-Cataclysm map, the population counts reflect vanilla-era numbers."
You can check out the full blog post here:
Mimiron’s Library: Azeroth Population Density
Some statistics from the blog:
The highest populated area on Azeroth is Icecrown Glacier with approximately 250,000 people, all of which are undead.
The Eastern Kingdoms is the most densely populated of Azeroth’s continents with 496,860 inhabitants. It has almost 2.5x the population of Kalimdor, which sits at just 197,300.
There are more undead in Icecrown than there are humans in Stormwind City.
The total population of Azeroth is about 1.2 million. By real world standards, this is a bit less than the population of England in 1086.

The RP side of World of Warcraft is one we don't touch on much, but if you do RP in Azeroth, Mimiron’s Library is a fine resource.
