When the lockdowns occurred, I found myself needing to do some sort of project because my usual activities like the Gym and going out with friends… Well… stopped. It was hard to cope at first because I just started going to the gym and now had no form of escape from my anxieties. It was by chance that I went to my local music store and they offered me an amazing MIDI Controller for only 50 Bucks (shout out to Main Street Music). After that I was talking to my friends and former band mates to learn how to properly use the controller and got the basics down. After that I started Experimenting with Programs like FL Studio and Mixcraft creating and experimented with short melodies and shared them with my friends.
The Reason I made the Album is because I saw that the recent DMCA takedowns on Twitch was really affecting members of the Streaming Community and I realized there was an awesome opportunity to give something back to the community that has given me so much love and support. Being that I am a Huge World of Warcraft Nerd and a Content Creator, as well as most of my friends being Content Creators for the same game, I saw that it was a much easier way to transition my learning into something amazing. Now I know Synthwave isn’t everyone’s cup of tea it is something I personally enjoyed working on and know that for some its quite relaxing to listen to while gaming. It probably doesn’t help that Cyberpunk 2077 being on my mind as well as the ever "breathtaking" Keanu Reeves.
I was inspired by many artists such as Dance with the Dead, Who make a lot of Nu-Retrowave Music. Scandroid and The Midnight would be other bands as well.
The First song that I decided to mix was the Alliance theme of Stormwind and Anduins Theme together. It was probably the most simplistic mix I made. Then I asked for Feedback from the community as this was for them to enjoy. There are some songs that were requested that I couldn’t do such as Grizzly Hills, which I felt the Leit Motif was difficult to translate into synth. Hopefully in the future when I further my knowledge of creating synthwave music I could do so in the future.
In terms of Roadblocks... Due to the Fires occurring in Northern California there were constant threats of Evacuation. and there were at times having to deal with Covid 19 lockdowns gave some added issues.
The Biggest thing that I can take away from this album is that this community is a family, We may disagree, and might choose Horde or Alliance, But I sincerely love and appreciate everyone in the community. I did also want to take this time to unveil that I will be releasing a second album called "requiem" which will be entirely Original and all Horror Based Synthwave! Also Huge Shoutouts to the Blizzard Team and the World Of Warcraft Dev Team to let me use their music, Big thanks as well to Mr.GM and AdamShwagins for giving me the push to make the album as well!
