WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up
Hello! Welcome to the 174th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
My name is
and I am a content creator focusing on making gold using Professions and
. I have a number of guides over on
and I also stream my adventures on
PTR 9.1 Updates to Professions
The datamine and testing train of 9.1 continues to hurtle ahead with
new profession items being added
more information on the Deaths Advance Reputation
Crafter's Mark III
Still, nothing too ground breaking here and mainly things you would expect at this stage of an expansion. It's all a bit scrappy at the moment with some professions not seeing any love as of yet (I'm looking at you Engineering and where is my Blingtron 8000?)
shares his thoughts ..
We just got the latest data-mining news from
where they found some new crafts for Shadowlands 9.1. So far I am not that hyped about it except for Inscription and maybe also for Leatherworking. What I did found interesting is that they found that there will be stuff coming soon for the profession.
I summoned the new things and some of my thoughts about these crafts.
You can read it here and also on my
that has pictures :p
Shaded Bag of Ore
In 9.1 alchemy is getting a new and also well-known kind of transmute for alchemy called
Shaded Bag of Ore
. If I am correct it should be the same as other transmutes that only works for daily use. The amount of ore is inside the bag is unknown.
I’m not sure if this is just a cosmetic thing or not but for now you can sprinkle someone with
Will these sell is, for now, uncertain because we don’t know what they are used for. As a cosmetic thing maybe at the beginning for people that want to try them out and have some fun with it.
New Light Meals
As for cooking nothing special but light meals that give no buff.
Porous Rock Candy
These can be learned from the cooking trainer
. However, they are adding more food, so there is a chance we will see more food coming like Soul Food and Large Meals maybe. But as we see it now, it won’t make us any gold.
Vantus Rune Technique: Sanctum of Domination
Of course for the new raid, we are gonna see a new vantus rune called the
Vantus Rune Technique: Sanctum of Domination.
I assume this new rune can be obtained in the same way like for other raids and that is by running the raids with your inscriptionist on any difficulty with a random drop chance.
Technique: Contract: Death’s Advance
Is a new contract that you can learn if you are revered with the Death’s Advance. Who you can learn it from to craft the T
echnique: Contract: Death's Advance
is at the moment unknown.
Death’s Advance is a new faction in Shadowlands 9.1. The only information about it that I could find was on Icy Veins.
(Edit - Samadan: New reputation information
Can these two items make use of some gold? Yes, especially the Vantus Runes depending on fast you can get your hands on the technique.
We are getting at least two new toys and if they may have a function for in the game is uncertain. The two leatherworking toys are
Pallid Bone Flute
Pallid Oracle Bones.
Where and how you can learn these is also uncertain and depending on that we will know if these toys are gonna make use of some gold.
It’s still not that very exciting these new crafts but… This could mean we will be seeing more, I don’t think that Blizzard will just add new food that won’t help us in any way so keep your eyes open. The only profession that I see with some new interesting stuff, for now, is Inscription.
, they did say something interesting based on their latest data mining and that was 'though this appears to be just the first round of new items, and we can expect a whole new line of enchants, consumables, and raid buffs to be added before the upcoming patch goes live.'
So we are gonna see new things sooner or later.
I suspect that some of these are/were planned for 9.2 but with 9.1 taking a long time to arrive, perhaps we are seeing some being brought in now to pad the content? It certainly is nice to see a few more items even if they are cosmetic. I would expect a greater amount of things if 9.2 brings more materials.
has a nice video going through his thoughts on the new recipes ...
also shares their findings with the latest PTR build which gives a nice summary of some of the more recent changes ...
This afternoon Blizzard updated the PTR to build 38394. This brought additional quests and some tweaks. As far as I could tell, there were no major updates for 9.1 goldmaking. Below are some of the minor details I noticed while testing this evening.
. This item is required to make the new legendary optional crafting reagent that allows us to access the new highest rank of legendaries. However, it was still nowhere to be found. In this week's questline, we enter the Vault of Secrets. The tooltip for Korthium says that it is used in upgrading the Vault of Secrets, so hopefully we are getting close.
Prestigious Crafters Mark
(upgrades item to ilvl 200). There is a quest available that rewards this recipe. The quest requires you to collect 250 items from around Korthia. However, I could not find the items or get any to drop. I'm guessing it is not yet functional, but at least we know how we will get the recipe.
Without giving any storyline spoilers, it seems obvious that legendaries will still be made at the Runecarver, another sign that there is no significant revamp to the legendary crafting system (aside from the new legendary optional crafting reagent). The only thing that seems to be different is...
Mega Soul Ash
. Wowhead datamined that this will come from the most dangerous layers of Torghast. I'm guessing this will be soul ash specific to upgrading to the 9.1 ilevel legendaries.
An additional Legendary Optional Crafting Reagent?
There seems to be a placeholder in the menu for optional crafting reagents for another item besides Vestige of Origins. Perhaps this would match what wowhead datamined about 2 additional ranks....maybe there is an optional crafting reagent for each rank? We will see what becomes of this placeholder.
Flying was a quest reward for getting to the end of a major event in the storyline. It seems it will be timegated by just a week when 9.1 drops, so barring no changes, we will know when to expect flying to start affecting the economy.
If you'd like to see a playthrough of this week's PTR quests while I talk some goldmaking and all the new details above, you can check out my playthrough from this evening:
It's a shame we won't be able to call Progenian Fragments Pog fragments, but I'm pleased about the Soul Cinders. Names aside, I would expect a lot of tweaks over the next few weeks. Of course, we will be reporting them here to keep you in the loop and what it means for gold making.
Amethyst Baubleworm - 10k Charm Pet
I missed this one on last weeks news, but it's worth a mention particularly with regards to gold making. There is a new pet coming that costs 10,000
Polished Pet Charms
Flawless Amethyst Baubleworm.
If u didn't know yet:
The pet for sure will be able to be sold at auction and I estimate the starting price at 0.4-0.5M gold.
What do you think? Will the effort/time spent on farming tokens(i.e Polished Pet Charm * 10,000) be justified?
in last PTR, I rise start AH-price to 0.5-0.7M(my personal guess, ofc).
If you have a lot of alts you can farm a lot of pet charms with pretty low effort by doing the mission table. If the pet is cageable and auctions for over ~200k, then it might be the best passive table income. 10k is 500 20-charm missions. If you were do to gold missions instead at 350g per mission, you would make 175k. Augment runes will still probably be the best missions, maybe followed by pet charms?
BFA mission table. There is nothing else of significant value and the 200% mission gives 30 charms. Those missions are fairly common, not every day, but at least 3-4x per week. If you have an alt army with resources, you can just park them and cycle through them once a day.
The Polished Pet Charms are something you could start collecting now if you are interested in getting this pet to sell later. Also the other 3 similar pets require certain grey items to purchase. I suspect a new market emerging on these items too.
Large Slimy Bone
A Frayed Knot
Rotting Bear Carcass
Dark Iron Baby Booties
The Stoppable Force
Robble's Wobbly Staff
Very Unlucky Rock
Here is a TSM String to look out for the items on the AH ..
Podcast with Boosting Communities
Have you ever wondered about Boosting Communities in WoW? These are groups of individuals who offer their well-geared services to carry people through harder content in exchange for gold. The communities have gotten quite sophisticated with dedicated advertisers and automation in lining people up through Discord.
Jack The Dipper
great 2 hours interview
with a couple of community members ..
Sorry for the delay, the episode required more work than normal because it's a 2 hour-long episode. Zan and I want to thank you all for the questions we got on Twitter and this Reddit post for the boosting episode.
This episode is all about boosting communities and for that we have invited Brezell from 'Boosting Buddies' and Ted + Nokill from 'Phoenix' (part of old Gallywix). We want to know how these communities work, how the gold is been distributed, the roles in these communities. Of course, we are getting to hear some numbers that come with these communities. Hope you guys and girls will enjoy this episode.
