Wowhead Weekly Review (May 24 - May 30)
01/06/2009 a las 01:03
Hello, and welcome to the twelfth Wowhead Weekly Review!
We have some excellent posts for you guys this week, as well as some nifty formatting updates. Check the list after the break and see!
Opinions presented in the Wowhead Weekly Review are not necessarily those of Wowhead.com or its staff members.
BlizzCon Bonanza Contest -- Bringing the Power!
. Partnering up with APC, an American power company, Wowhead features a contest with numerous prizes! These prizes include (but are not limited to) a trip for two people to this year's BlizzCon in Anaheim, California, mentioned by
. You also get the opportunity to dine with some of Wowhead's most important and loved staff members!
New Druid Forms! (Tauren Bear)
by Malgayne. The demands from Druid players bored to death by the monotony of their shapeshifting forms have been heard! In the next major patch the changes will be introduced. You can view one of the four concepts, the Tauren bear form, in the blog.
New Druid Forms! (Night Elf Bear)
by Malgayne. Blizzard has released the second preview of Druid shapeshifting skins! This time the Night Elf bear skins are shown.
MMOUI - Minion in Beta
. Earlier, Wowhead's sister site, WoWInterface brought their latest project into Alpha, which Malgayne told us of in a
. Now they announce the new Beta phase where you can finally test it without putting stuff together like a puzzle. Be wary, it just got upgraded to Beta so there might be a lot of bugs in the code.
Flame Leviathan 10-Man killed by 2 Players
. He brings us the news that the Flame Leviathan, the first boss in the Siege of Ulduar, has been downed by a Warrior and a Mage in normal mode (10 man).
A Mountain Dew/WoW Contest
. Announcing the sale of World of Warcraft themed Mountain Dews, he provides us with links for an upcoming contest with some awesome prizes!
. Weeks ago the trend to check achievements before inviting people to PuG raids or instances came up and it was a pretty viable way for finding experienced players who knew the dungeon. However, some websites (Wowhead included) offer a service which lets you link achievements in game—allowing you to fake having more experience than you actually have. Do you think people should forbid linking faked achievements, or should the raid leaders care only about skill and gear?
Heart of 5-mans
. Inspired by a post on WoW.com, he compares the design and layout of the classic five man instances with the newer Wrath of the Lich King instances. The result: old instances were trickier and had more style. To support this thesis, Bolger mentions the cannons inside Deadmines and Stratholme. What's your opinion on this?
Thread - Mage-
Mage PvP Guide - Redux
. Our diligent Wowhead friend has written a very detailed guide for Magi that exercise their skill in PvP.
Thread - Paladin-
Paladin "cap" compendium.
. To prevent any further questions on the status caps for Paladins, he wrote a compendium that covers different talent trees. Point it out to him if you feel that something is missing!
Thread - Warlock-
PvP Guide for beginners 3.12
. This is a guide that helps you with starting out in PvP and has a gear recommendation list.
Thread - Warlock-
. This is a guide for new (and possibly older) Warlocks that gives information on all relevant abilities, advantages, and disadvantages for each demonic
slave. It also has tips on when to use which minion.
UI update to Aldriana's Mutilate Spreadsheet
. This is a little spreadsheed for raiding rogues, updated for the latest gear.
Lore and Fan-Fiction
Project Lore Soloing - Dorkins Does Dailies
. Dorkins continues his dailies! This time he is grinding up his reputation with the Kalu'ak by doing nasty quests.
Does Arthas limit the creativity and difficulty of endgame raids?
. He compares the classic end game content with the ones in Wrath of the Lich King, the raid bosses have been getting harder and harder through necessity and inexperience for which Yogg-Saron and Algalon the Observer stand out. Both are very hard and potent bosses that have hardly been downed. So Ilovemuffins asks, can Blizzard enhance the obvious Lich King encounter with a far greater difficulty than Yogg-Saron and Algalon without breaking the lore? Both entities, an Old God and an ambassador of the Titans, are obviously superior to the merger of Arthas (who failed often in his past but still has been a powerful paladin) and Ner'zhul (an Orcish warlock). So much is known about the Lich King, but less is known about Yogg-Saron and Algalon the Observer which makes them exceptionally hard.
Light and Death (Page 13)
. Continuing the story, he also announces a contest for naming the unknown Orc Shaman (who still has no name). The rules for the "contest" can be found at
Light and Death (Naming Contest)
The Trials of a Blood Knight Pt. 1
. Starting his own user written story, he tells the tale of a blood elf.
The Pandaria Series – 8th Tome: Warning: Contains Images Some May Find Too Gory.
. The story goes on and on and on...
Firefox Persona for Wowhead
by ArgentSun. In this blog, he tells us about a Firefox add-on that lets you have some of your browser bars appear in different styles. The one he created is a Wowhead theme!
Making Those Tough Decisions In-Game
. Thinking back on a situation where a user on the Wowhead IRC asked him a question whether to spend his currency on purchasing a heirloom item for his lower level Hunter or save up for his Death Knight main, he asks us how we decide, what we keep our mind on, and whether we regret it later or not.
. Out of curiosity, he asks you, if you were granted immortality, would you accept it?
What do you guys think of the Drop down Menus?
Are they good? Bad?
The thirteenth WWR will be released the next week as usual! See ya' later!
You are of course free to
whenever you think a thread could be included in the next Weekly Review! Please be aware -- we don't accept everything. ;)
