1. First toon. My first character was a tauren warrior (now an 80 tank). Mulgore was so beautiful, and so huge! I could not believe how big this one zone was, and then I looked at the world map. Yow.2. Echo Isles Hospitality. While fighting bloodtalon taillashers for their eggs in the Echo Isles, a level 60 troll shaman approaches, running on top of the water! She gave me three 12-slot mageweave bags - more precious bag space than I ever imagined possible - and dissappeared across the waves. Thank you!3. Mankrik's Wife. I searched, and I searched. I looked high and low. And then I heard somewhere about this website called Wowhead. Wow-life just got a whole lot easier.4. Test of Faith. This is a very simple quest in Thousand Needles. Simple after you've done it, I should say. Just jump off this mesa. What... Are you kidding me? Wow - That's a long way down. Oh, this is gonna hurt. Bamf!5. Zul'Farrak - Stairs Event. I was invited to this instance by a group I had joined up with in Stranglethorn Vale earlier that day for some of the pirate quests. It was my first time in Zul'Farrak, and I had no idea what to expect. All those mobs coming up the stairs! I was terrified. These guys knew what they were doing, though, and even invited me into their guild afterwards. And now I've got ten 80s (one of each class) in that same guild and officer status. That was a very good day.
1. The Battle of Darrowshire. A brilliant story, and I was upset that none of the remaining Redpaths are in Northrend, as far as I am aware.2. Benediction - This quest line really makes a priest a great class.3. My first time in Eversong Woods. The zone is beautiful, and really captures the essence of Quel'thalas.4. Scholomance. I don't know what it is about this zone, but I really like it. So much lore, fun and annoying pulls. 5. Priest T6. Still my favourite tier for priests. It is just incredible looking.
1: Barrens Chat. I know full well that most people thought it was annoying beyond belief, but it was just such an entertaining way to breeze through the levels. Hell, I even learnt some great new Chuck Norris jokes.2: Everything being new. Man, when everything was new, I seriously spent half my time levelling just running around the zones marvelling at all the great artwork and interesting stuff I could find.3: Warsong Gulch Pre-BC. Being a Shaman made getting the flag such a breeze in the 20-29 bracket. Nothing could catch up to me, and even if they did, frost shock to the face would sort things out. I must have spent about half a year at level 29 because of this.4: Blackrock Depths! Most confusing instance ever, so confusing, that whenever my group actually got to the final boss, I felt a huge sense of achievement at just that, never mind downing him.5: Raiding. Raiding in vanilla was truly epic. So much co-ordination and skill required, not like the near-facerolls of today.
Instance: Blackrock Depths. BRD wasn't my first instance ofcourse. But it was my last instance before I went to Outland and that was my last vanilla instance which I did with vanilla group. We did only several mobs before Rocknar (or what's he called?) and then group completely wiped there. Then on level 70 (later 80 when WotLK came) I went to BRD many times. It's great. It's big. And it's very interesting! Not like those tank'n'spank WotLK (it's not that stupid but in compare with BRD it can be). Now The Seven - it's cool but would not be worth pointing it out. But they are. Because of this quest given by Gloom'rel. This awesomness can only be compared to old (Mind controlling) way of obtaining ability to smelt elementium. And about me (again) - I couldn't understand how to smelt Dark Iron till level 70... and when I got 80 (was hard to farm on 70) I have even got Ironfoe from there, oh and that's my next favourite.Item: Ironfoe. It is my favourite item ever! 1. It gives the ability to speak dwarvish. Though my main is dwarf warrior (I got Ironfoe only on him) I still like it. 2. It has a very good look. 3. It's made by the great F.F.F. - this is a good reason for getting it! Maybe later we can get a dam... 4. And it is a good weapon for any vanilla player! 5. It's great thing if you want to collect some rare weapons!.. Zone: Un'Goro Crater. Titans. Slimes. Demon (do you know her?). Gnomes. Goblins. Volcano. Dinosaurs. Silithid. Gnoll A dinosaur with a gnoll's name. Anything you can want is in there! I have done all quests there. Still I want more. I really hope Blizzard add some more lore into it. My favourite zone ever. If you haven't been there - you don't know WoW! Ah yea and also my favourite quest there was about Pylons from Collie. Instance: Blackrock Spire. It used to be F.F.F.'s best creation. Now it is great orcish city. I like both parts - lower and upper. But like lower more. Though it has only 1 dragon and armies of orcs, trolls and ogres, it's not too much tank'n'spank and it is interesting. Also it's big. Like BRD. It's hard to describe everything here. I like it for not just the instance alone but the legions itself but for quests and lore. Like Warosh's Redemption or Gauntlets quest (you have probably guessed that I'm BS and miner) in "secret" room near lava, and many many more.Instance: Scholomance. "School is in session!" - as the Headmaster says . This school for necromancers jr. isn't as big as my other two favourite instances, but it's great. As all vanilla. Staff of Gandling is great drop from last boss there (I got it on my main also). Dark runes... oh I like them either, got about 25... Everything what is inside (and outside) the school which was found by our well known friend lil' K.T. Kel'Thuzad is amazing. Take those ghosts in Caer Darrow - it's not instance yet but this little addition makes it all much better! (And also reapirs nearby). And those questlines in Scholomance! Just take the one which leads to the creation of the key... it also shows that Un'Goro is very useful for even making keys!.. And one of my favourite encounters in Scholomance itself is the Doctor! I can write much more about the school, but this blog isn't about that, so that's all.P.S. And my favourite race (after dwarves and gnomes) be da OGREZ! (hmmm this looks like a letter, doesn't it?)FOR KHAZ MODAN! -Darge
1: Un'goro Crater, specifically, Linkens Chain. One of the best chains out there. Specifically, the Boomerang.2: Stratholme, I love this instance, its just a fun, expansive area. What makes it even better is there's some fun items in there. Like the Cannonball Runner from Cannon Master Willey.3: Ahn'Qiraj, both the temple and the ruins, is just a great place. Big boss encounters, massive events, special mounts that are extremely wicked. All in all it was just epic.4: Black Rock Depths, one of the longest instances out there, the Grim Guzzler was my favorite spot, specially once you find out you can get a special drink that turns you into a Dark Iron Dwarf.5: Gnomeregan, I remember still, doing this instance for the special Engineering recipes. Also, wanting the hat that Mekgineer Termaplug dropped. Never got it but still cool. As well as the area that let you clean off grim encrusted items.
1. Scarlet MonasteryThis was my first instance with the guild of a friend who got me started in this game. The teamwork involved was what really impressed me. I never played a MMO until WoW so I never really knew what a "Tank, DPS, Off Tank, Etc" was. Being inexperienced I was pretty much carried through the whole thing. I accidentaly pulled an army of mobs and nearly got everyone killed but we pulled through and afterwards everyone started calling me "Leeroy". I finally whisped my friend and asked why they were calling me that and he linked me the famous jenkins video.2. South ShoreI remember the first time I arrived here, I noticed in the chat window "3. Local Defense: Southshore is under attack!",and thought to myself "WTH?" no sooner do I arrive here and see dead guards/players everywhere, I couldn't eve find the flight master to get the Flight Point. I start to look for the tavern and see this Tauren Shaman (I don't know why, but for some reason he seemed bigger then normal). What's funny, (well, now it's funny atleast) is that he killed me in ghost wolf form. This became my favorite place for awhile after that. I never regret starting in a PVP server.3. Alterac VallyThe other Battle Grounds were ok, but when I first stepped into this one I thought "Now this is a battle ground" the others seemed more like a scirmish ground compared to AV. The size alone was incredible, and the objectives made teamwork mandatory if you wanted a victory.4. Level 40Not a big deal now, but that was when I was finally able to get my mount and wear Plate. They seem slow now, but that 60% increased land speed was a big boost from having to hoof it here and there, especially when a quest giver wants you to travel to the other side of the continent and pick a flower or retrieve something that for some odd reason is located in some remote location 5. Level 60Sure the epic mount is awesome but hiting 60 was more of an accomplishemt then vice making 80 now. There was no gear that gives 10% XP gain, or a DK starting at 55. You had to work for 60 and it really made you feel on top of the world when you finally got there.
1. Getting my first mount ever. It was on my tauren druid. I remember I hit 40 and I was on the nearest wyvern to Mulgore. I think that was the longest run from Thunder Bluff in my life. I was so happy. I snagged my kodo and when immediately to Thunder Bluff to do a "photoshoot." After that I stopped playing my druid. To this day he isn't even 50 and I've gone Alliance but I'll never forget getting my first mount. I still love kodos.2. I'm a sucker for lore, and when I found out you could hear Arthas and his father conversing in the throne room at Undercity I rushed over and cranked up the volume. It just adds to the eerie feeling of the ruins. The tolling of the fallen bell ringing in the return of Arthas and his father's last words, still gives me chills.3. Pyrewood village. I remember I was quest in the area during the day and everyone was human and then I happened to pass by at night and I was like "Wait....weren't...oooh cool!" I thought it was just so neat that the whole village changed into worgens at night. Along with the greymane wall, always wondered what lies behind that wall, and soon I'll get to find out and have my very own worgen! *fidgets*4. My first time tanking a dungeon. It was on my tauren druid and we were doing Scarlet Monastery Library. I was so nervous. We only wiped once and I was the only one that died a second time, but I remember at the end my boyfriend at the time whispered to me and said I did a great job and ever since then I've been a tank.5. First time I saw Onyxia's head on the steak in Orgrimmar. I was running out to do something and I did a double take and walked back over. I remember thinking that it would be so awesome to be able to fight that dragon.
1. Zul'Farrak: 5 years later and its still my favorite instance I've ever run. I'm a sucker for the open skies and the "city" setting. You really get the feeling that this isn't just a long cave or a dirty building you're fighting your way through, this is a mini-civilization that's been holding off invaders for generations, but you and your team of heroes are the ones to finally bring an end to it. When you say it like that, it sounds a lot like genocide and I guess I'm really not that proud of it. Damn.2. Bloodsail Admiral: I was a little shocked to see that this hasn't been mentioned yet. Back in the day, my Troll Rogue was the second person I knew of on my server to become a Bloodsail Admiral by grinding goblins in Booty Bay (sorry to all you healers that tried to help me and ended up losing Goblin faction reputations!). I wasn't on an RP server, but I was playing with a fun group of friends so I rolled with the costume and started speaking like a pirate to stave off boredom during those loooooong MC raids. The meme caught on and soon everyone in my guild was greeting each other with a hearty "YARRRR!" when they logged on and off. Even though I've moved past it by now (I'm still proudly hated by all the goblin towns, despite spending days upon days repeating the 2 since-nerfed goblin rep quests in Feralas), I bust out the pirate costume, including hat and bloodsail parrot pet from time to time for guild pictures. Nothing has defined my experience more in World of Warcraft than becoming a dreaded terror of the seven seas to those tiny green stumpies. YARRRR!3. Stranglethorn Vale: Most players have a very love/hate relationship with Azeroth's largest jungle, but I can't get enough of it. The quests overlap perfectly, especially for the old world, whose zones were sometimes plagued by inefficient quest design. The first intra-faction PvP arena, the fishing contest, Hemet Nesingwary and his mass genocide of all living creatures, and of course everyone's favorite swashbucklers - the Bloodsail Buccaneers. And, even though its annoying to get occasionally drive-by-ganked by higher level characters while trying to quest, it inspired some awesome spontaneous group PvP moments as players would rally together to fight off the bully or call in some high level guildies of their own to protect them.4. Exploring the Uninhabited Parts of the World: The feralas waterfall, the deserted farm town on the southwest beach of Tanaris, the small shack on the coastline between Arathi and Wetlands, the dancing Troll village. These are the fun little hideouts that remind us on our journeys that we are exploring an entire world filled with life, and not all of it revolves around giving us quests. Some of it is just there to make you sit back and admire the massive world we're exploring.5. Totally openworld PvP No queues, no instances, no balanced sides. Just good ol' rush Southshore/Tarren Mill and smash some heads. It auto-balanced itself with time, when Alliance got to strong, they'd get bored and some would leave. Then Horde would surge back and push to Southshore and balance is restored.
# 5: Maraudon (Mara)While most people hated the instance, due to the size and difficulty back then, I loved this instance entirely. My favorite part was the waterfall that you jumped off on the way to go kill the princess. I think that might be the only reason I enjoyed the instance, to be honest. I also loved doing princess runs, teleporting into the zone and zone in free-falling into that pool of water under the waterfall. The instance was also gorgeous.# 4: Deadmines (VC)This was the first instance I had run. I had never run a dungeon before. The previous games I had played online only had "world content" meaning you had to fend against other players for boss loot. I remember leveling in Westfall always seeing people spamming "LFG VC" or "LFM VC." After a while of wondering what this meant, I finally whispered someone asking, "What is VC?" I was told it was an "instance" where you go get some gear. So in I went, and I was amazed at all the sights to see. An underground goblin factory? And best of all, a boat underground! Awesome. I fell in love with this instance and ran it multiple times, and even ran people through the dungeon freely for the longest time in Vanilla days.# 3: Sunken Temple (Temple of Atal'Hakkar )I enjoyed this instance for one major reason: Swimming underwater to get to the instance portal. I'm not really sure why this struck me as awesome, but it did and still does. This was also the first instance where I encountered dragons! Fighting Dragons was always a cool thing to me in MMOs, and this instance definitely delivered on that aspect. Being able to choose basically two different instances in one was also a nice choice (Basement and/or Eranikus).# 2: Upper Blackrock Spire (UBRS)I ran this instance, for almost the entire length of Vanilla. I loved this instance that much. There wasn't a week that went by that I didn't run this once I hit level 60. Sometimes I even ran it multiple times a week/day. Dragons galore! And a giant "Beast" that punted people. You also got to see Netharion during the battle with Rend. There was a lot of lore characters in this instance which helped with my interest as well. Surprising that this isn't # 1 actually.# 1: Molten Core (MC)While my raiding career was pretty short in Vanilla, due to the massive amount of time required to raid back then, I really enjoyed running Molten Core. I remember when the uber clear time was 10 Hours. Although the raid was difficult, and my guild never managed to down Ragnaros (the days of Difficulty!) I had a lot of fun in here, and managed to be the first priest to get my Benediction in the guild. Fun times.. If I reminisce about Vanilla, I think about Molten Core with 39 other people. :' )
1. My first character was a male gnome lock. I admit that I had no clue on what I was doing. I kept dying and thought the little guy that popped up was so very cute. I wondered what would happen if I kept dying. The little guy got completely red. Was still running around and my brother walks in and I show him the little guy. He laughs and tells me that it is the broken armor indicator. I had no armor left and I was still in the starting zone. No money to repair because I was just going around dying. I still think that is the best thing from when I first started playing in vanilla WoW.2. Got invited to a group for Deadmines and had to summon the person who was taking my group through. Got to Mr.Smite. Saw his weapon chest there and since we had rolled for the last chest that I saw, I typed /roll and someone asked me why. I proudly stated that there is a chest and i really want to win it. They laughed at me and then someone explained that it was just for the boss's use only. I felt so dumb at the time. Did not group again til I was around level 40 or so because of that.3. My very first mount. I was so happy with it. Called my brother at work to brag about paying whatever the cost was then at the trainer for it*warlock at the time* and he yelled at me for disturbing him. Oops. 4. The epic lock mount quest, I had friends who were willing to help me. Hit 60 and told them. The one friend was a lock as well and he had all the stuff to do the summoning. We went into Dire Maul, got all the way through the summoning and I said I can not talk to it. They asked me if I did any of the quests. Told them no and that I thought i just needed to have someone do the summoning part of it. The lock and his wife who plays a druid, took me to every place to do the quests and then back to Dire Maul.5. My most favorite instance is Blackrock Depths. I went there on my lock and had a blast. Made a priest and took her there. Meant two of the greatest people on Runetotem. Cyntilia is a druid and I met Cyn in a pug for the Onyxia chain quest. When we were done in BRD for as much as we could do, we met back up later that night with a friend of Cyn's. Rayvynne is a lock and Ray went back into BRD with us. We went to SW and completed it. The three of us then went into UBRS to finish the chain quest. None of my other friends were on, so Cyn and Ray's guild went with us and we took down every boss so easily. I wound up joining their guild. Still friends with them to this day.
1. Shadowfang Keep. I had always been afraid to group with strangers before, but one day my little shaman was talked into joining a group here. It was my first instance run, and my very first taste of healing. Despite being incredibly nervous, the run was a great success. We all laughed and learned a lot, even though we didn't manage to kill Archmage Arugal at the end. I've been hooked on running instances as often as possible ever since, but I still have a soft spot for old Shadowfang.2. Duskwood. The first time I saw this zone was through the eyes of an invading force. I heard rumblings about a group of Horde gathering to visit the Alliance on their home territory. I asked if I was too low to join them (my shaman didn't even have her Ghost Wolf form yet, and normal mounts were level 40), and was ecstatic when they were kind enough to let me tag along. We rode the zeppelin to Stranglethorn and made our way up the coast before storming the road into Duskwood. I felt a bit guilty for aggroing just about everything along the way (Night Elf hunters and werewolves, oh my!), but I was completely in love with the zone at first sight. We managed to wipe out Darkshire and move on to Redridge, where our forces were scattered and defeated by the resistance.3. Thousand Needles. I know this zone isn't terribly popular, but I'll be a little sad to see it disappear. I had never seen anything beyond the edge of the Barrens before, and when I got my Ghost Wolf form I decided to remedy that. I had no idea what lay beyond, so I followed the trails I could and did my best to dodge the local wildlife. I found a path winding its way up the side of a cliff and decided to see where it would lead me. Coming around a bend near the top, I had to stop and take in the view. The sun was just disappearing over the edge of the rock towers, all light above and shadow in the canyons below. That was the first time I looked around and just thought to myself, "You know, this game is really beautiful."4. My first mount. Two of my friends and I hit level 40 and got our mounts at the same time. We were the first in our guild to get that far and we decided to celebrate by exploring the higher level zones we hadn't dared without mounts. Eventually we ended up in the Blasted Lands, trying to dodge the demons guarding the Dark Portal. Of course this was before it actually opened up into Outland, we just wanted to investigate closer. And we did so... after a couple of corpse runs.5. Lord Kazzak. The older version of him that used to stalk the Blasted Lands, that is. This was the first official raid I was invited to, before later joining a guild that allowed me to raid more often. I wasn't prepared and had no idea what to expect. It was the first time I had ever seen 40 people moving as one group, and then add to that a second group competing for him. Somehow our leader organized the chaos and we made the pull. We were the first pug group to kill him on our server, after having been told it was impossible.
1) Best thing i can remember was leveling to 60 for the first time. It was about the time when Zul'gurub came out, and me and my brother both were in Winterspring and we were thinking on ways that would be productive while we could hit 60. so my brother decides that we should kill the furbolgs so we could bet rep with Timbermaw hold. Around the 30th kill me and my broth both got to 60 killing the same mob. We both say "ding" in the guild and get many grats from the members. My brother quit playing the game when BC came out, so the is the best moment for me because it reminds me when me and my brother used to play the game together all the time. From level 1 to 60 with my brother and i wont forget it.2) Second thing i remember the most is when questing in Un'Goro Crater and of course getting the "It's a Secret to Everybody" quest. My brother and I remember hearing that this quest has something to do with Zelda, so instead of doing any other quest we had we just spent the whole day trying to get this quest chain done. It was like a real journey with my brother and we had much fun doing it. by the time we had to kill Blazerunner we had to get someone else to help. That aside me and my brother were both happy with the rewards. We both ended up just using the Boomerang trinket. But still that quest alone had so much to it to keep you going and not give up.3) It was nearing the time of Burning Crusade and at this time i wanted to get as much of the old world done as i could. That said it meant i had to do some dungeons i have never done before. i have heard about Dire Maul being another 3 part dungeon kinda like Scarlet Monastery. So i get into a group for Dire Maul and i am Amazed with what i see. I see how beautiful it is in there and i feel like i can cry from how this looks. i have never seen anything like this while i have been playing. it is just great to see thing that look so good in your view.4) To this day i have and will still keep my first pet. Leveling a hunter was great but one of the main reasons i did was because i could have a pet fight for me. Once i hit level 10 i was set on getting my pet as fast as i could. I did the little quest in order to get a pet and then i was off. i already had it set i wanted a raptor, but which one? the only ones in Durotar were the red raptors. I wanted something different. That is when i saw it. The Corrupted Bloodtalon Scythemaw. I knew he was my pet to be. With his unique yellow color and blue strips the only of its kind in Durotar. I tamed him and gave him the name "Riptor". He was at my side with my brother and I all the way to 60. And now at 80 he resides in the stable ready to level with me again with Cataclysm.5) My final memory of vanilla would have to be my first successful raid. Little as it may have been Upper Blackrock Spire with my almost full Beaststalker set was great. All the mobs and loot, the bosses and whelps. It was a great dungeon for what it was. My favorite boss in there would have to be The Beast. I was in shock when i first saw it. I had a great feeling in me to see him fall to the ground(even tho he killed me easily >.<). To end the place up with the General and dropping my last piece of Beaststalker was great. Goodbye Beaststalker set, Hello Beastmaster set!
I never realy saw any endgame content as I was 59 on my rogue when TBC hit (never did strat and scholo and such). But I do have some nice memories from back then:1. BRD, epic instance. Now too I still do about 2 levels in there when I cross that instance's level. Realy big, and a cool instance overall: the Arena, the Bar, the Seven, Lord Incedius, the prisons part, the black coffers and hunting the Dark Keeper, almost forgot the gate that I thought was somehow awesome too.2. Maraudon, another epic instance. Loved the quests in there (like the Prophet's Q for that chance when hit, 25 to all stats trinket). Also the environment and the bosses: the Poison Elemental boss that splits apart into smaller elementals, the rare that dropped the 25 agi chest the first time I ever went there, and then me winning it vs 2 druids!, the goblin in the middle of "nowhere", and then ofcourse Princess (recently even won Blade of Eternal Darkness <3).3. Oldschool engineering: bombs, lasers, net, exploding sheep! all that kind of stuff. Loved to use it in BG's. Pitty there's little fun "trinkets" left in WOTLK (the reflectors for example, were realy epic).4. I remeber I didn't have to farm for my mount at 40, I could just buy it! Clever use of the AH, and my level 60 mates always had less gold than me ^^.5. Uldaman, I don't believe I ever did it before the nerf though. Still it was a pretty cool instance with the Staff of Tsol (or something) event to activate the titan-like woman boss, and the end boss event with all the spawns, asswell as the 4 v 5 fight against the trogg which I believe is called Grimlok.
1) The epic 100 v 100 Hillsbrad PvP battles. The rush of pushing as far into the other faction's town before their guards would run everyone out to midfield.2) First epic flying mount. Watching the world blur below you, always being the first person at the summon stone, and being able to avenge your alt that keeps getting ganked.3) Seeing monsters with actually characteristics, from murloc's charging you from 3 miles out, to various ratman screaming "YOU NO TAKE CANDLE"4) The first epic item, the rush of going from green to purple5) In AV whenever both factions manage to summon their massive avatars in the middle of the map.Seeing those two titan's destroying both helpless sides
