Well, you forgot about all the Rock Lobster references ;)
How about NPC Actresses - The bankers in Stormwind - in The Trade District in addition to the ones named for Olivia Newton John, there are bankers named for Kristen Scott Thomas. And in The Dwarven District there are bankers named for Jamie Lee Curtis and Lesley Anne Warren. In the Western Plaugelands - the flight master in Andorhal on the Alliance side is named for Ginnifer Goodwin and the flight master at The Mender's Stead is named for her character from Big Love, Margene Heffman.
A band reference missed: The Isle of Lightning scenario for Stormsea Landing has scenario objectives "Light up the Night", "Breaking Out", and "Keep Quiet", all songs by the band the Protomen.
The questline in Duskwood with Abercrombie is probably a reference to the Fats Waller song "Abercrombie Had a Zombie," about a straight-laced man who gets into trouble after overindulging in a drink called a zombie. In addition to helping Abercrombie make an actual zombie, one of the quests has you going to town to pick up a strong alcoholic drink called zombie juice.
Few things I've added in:-Emil Autumn is an enchant trainer/Emilie Autumn has an album called Enchant-Daft Punk tribute in Shrine of Two Moons-Horde Pink Floyd references-Rock Lobster dailyI thought Abercrombie and Stitches was a reference to the clothing line Abercrombie and Fitch, but I'll see about adding that in later as well. There's going to be a few followup posts for NPCs/Quests covering remaining topics like books, movies, TV, and other celebrities. I may also do a post on zones/environment details to cover things like scenario objectives or the Nova monument which don't fit into other data categories. Thanks for all the suggestions!
The books in Dalaran, to get the familiar pet, are all references to the first schools of magic in the original 1st edition D&D.
There are also several references to diferent rock bands in the Klaxxi buffs that you get after doing quests with them, references to Metallica "master of puppets", Slayer "Angel of Death" among others.Other thing is that George Fisher's main band is Cannibal Corpse, not Paths. Thanks for this awesome pop culture guides :) awesome job!
Another possible addition, all the Klaxxi buffs are in honor of heavy metal songs. For instance Lluvia de sangre (Slayer), Titiritero (Metallica), Buscar y destruir (Metallica), etc...
Hmm...I think I might put the Klaxxi buffs in the achievement post, since you need to collect all the buffs for an achievement. I'll update that post when I do.
Magic: The GatheringLilian Voss ~ Liliana Vess?
Missed this quest as a (probable) TF2 reference! Meet the Scout.
I can't find the source, but I do think a player asked a Blizz dev about Lilian Voss on Twitter a while back, and he said it was named after an old friend--Liliana Vess was a coincidence.
A avenged sevenfold reference :Ooh btw please put in this guy? He's a Transformers reference
Companion crates from portal
Look inside an unmanned or should I say ungoblinned shredder. There's one in lumber mill in AB. Starcraft reference on the dashboard. I don't know if this would count as an npc, more like a goblin theme filler object. There's also the Meet the Scout quest and that rare on the isle of thunder with the title, The War Crafter, a game referencing itself.
Just gotta say, I love that Pumpkins reference.
Just fyi, Clarissa wants the D
So many references - just can't keep up.
Not noticing the Queen references is a major blow to my ego. Excuse me while I go to my corner.
