I'm not currently subbed so my opinion counts for very little but I'm disappointed that they aren't going to patch flying in. I fully understand not having flying while leveling. I sort of understood their reasoning for not having it when people first hit 100 as it made it more work for 100s to go and gank people still leveling on PvP realms. Not putting in at all seems pretty lame especially since plenty of people have large collections of flying mounts. Personally I've collected mounts over many other things because unlike gear they don't get made useless every new patch/expansion. Now blizzard have decided bugger that.
My God, the volume of people saying they're quitting over no flying is just pathetic. Flying takes you OUT of the game. And you'll NEVER get a refund for flying. You put time into getting the gold for fly (time that you were playing the game anyway), not real world currency (and if you did, I would hope you're smart enough not to admit it). No refunds on time spent, deal with it and play the game as is, or raise a ruckus about how you're quitting, but secretly play anyway.
Well aware the zones are capable of flying. I just used the term patch since they said it was going to be part of the .1 patch originally.
For lack of flying, I'll just ask how the Horde feels about moving around in Shadowmoon Valley and Alliance in Frostfire Ridge.
To be honest, if there's no flight in future expansions then I think I'll just quit the game. I'm thoroughly bored of no flight now and have been since 6.1 launched. Not being able to fly is just a real drag now and I've had enough. The people that care about getting treasures when it is hard have already done it by now. Pandaria looked more impressive when you could soar over it and see it stretch out for miles. Draenor feels very disjointed in comparison.
Any chance we'll get that 4th small garrison plot opened up in 6.2? I watched all 39 things (not a problem, Panser is awesome) and haven't stumbled on this tidbit anywhere else so far.It mocks me.
This right here is a good idea. Make flying activate for old expansions only, just like mythic cross-realm happens in old patches/old xpacs. Make players work for things in the current content, but if they miss current content for whatever reason, that's fine, don't penalize them later on for it.
Really looking forward to the 6.2 content for the most part, 'specially the Naval missions and pet battles, but the announcement about flying frankly is a huge disappointment and it really has for the first time ever made me reconsider whether it is worth it keeping three accounts subbed.I honestly don't see me quitting totally at this point, but I'm logging in less and less these days and rarely do more than pet battle dailies and garrison chores. There just isn't enough for a non-raider/non-dungeon runner to do in this expansion. This is in stark contrast to previous expansions, and yes, I did enjoy both Cata and Mists a great, great deal, and loving Wrath/BC was a no-brainer.Having flying would at least give Archeology less of a mindless run and grind, climb and grind, kill mobs and grind more aspect. Grinds within grinds are rarely fun.Know what's great about no-flying in WoD? Someone calls out a rare that drops a mount. You announce you're on the way and get on that land mount to run over to the coords/spawn point or hit the nearest flight master for your 'scenic flight' around the zone. Halfway there, "Sorry, he's dead," over Gen Chat. At least if we had the option of "as the crow flies" manual flight, maybe, just maybe, we'd have gotten there in time to at least get one hit in.
this is getting less "open world" every time. garrison, old content recycling. ugh take away grounding mounts too so the world will be a large (and full of content) thing to explore, we just queue and wait. we dont even move from the command table of the garrison.
Wow, some people are really mean here.See, this is another problem - by not enabling a basic feature, the playerbase gets also divided. As I see it, most people are NEUTRAL about flying. There are a lot of people upset about it missing. But I can barely see any people now or ever before saying "BAN FLYING!".So, if let's say, 30% wants flying, 60% doesn't mind and 10% refuses it, I don't see the reason why Blizz keeps being uptight about their decisions and doesn't give their players what they want.Instead there are more and more threads now about various dissatisfaction (even from long-time players), they constantly refuse to accept their faults, delete any complaints and blame us for almost everything. If I'm gonna unsub, it's not because of no flying, since I'm neutral about it, but because of not much content to do and how horribly Blizz has beeen treating its playerbase ever since WoD.Meanwhile the newest cash-grab Sable de runas is advertised flying in a WoD zone and had a description of "Flying in Draenor zones is not available as of yet", but now we know it never will be.Now that's a deceiving scam! Why not disable flying until one does all story-quests, exploration achi and even finds all treasures, but then it's good to go?Because that is still not the real reason why they won't enable flying - and I emphasise enable, because I can already glide from my garrison right into Elodor or up to the entrance of Temple of Karador. And indeed it is fun to see the world from above.Inb4 they nerf Pluma de Aviana, sadly.
Seems like only yesterday, Blizzard was a fair and decent company that cared for its fanbase. Now I'm officially convinced that they hate us all and no longer want us to have any fun. All that matters to them now is our money. Say what you will about Disneyland, but at least THEY actually fix their rides when they break.
I've got no problem with no flight in current content. Flight was something highly compatible with Burning Crusade's world design but not so much for anything afterwards, and it just felt dumb, if convenient. I really appreciate the map design of Draenor.
Just sounds like a weak excuse to poor world building. Rather than building a world that invites or keeps players on the ground through content or better building, you simply force them into a linear world and give a BS reason for it. I enjoy the twist of the knife as you announce all this right as you sell yet another flying mount, real cute.
