But why is this first, afaik, that we are hearing about this......
Strangely I haven't had this happen to me yet. Guess I'm very lucky and I won't have to modify how I search for Wowhead stuff (maybe Google just knows my preferences).
It's always sad to hear such things. Hopefully you will be able to get it cleared up soon. I've been playing WoW since '08 and I use your site for everything from mounts to gear to achievements and everything else that is WoW. So I really need your site for it would be really hard to get a lot of the stuff I want or need. And for everyone, here's a little tip that might help you. Once you get to Wowhead....bookmark it so that you don't need to take the chance of getting scammed.
Lol, I support wowhead because I use it nearly every day. 90% of all things searched world of warcraft related link directly to wowhead's extensive database (Normally). This site has helped me through many a confused moments. I subbed for 6 months because it cost 1 penny more then subbing to a twitch channel. I mean haters gunna hate but all and all you still use wowhead either way. and using an adblocker and not whitelisting wowhead is similar to downloading your favorite song, movie or tv show and not paying the artists or people who created it, it's just rude (not to mention illegal, though not whitelisting wowhead doesn't fall anywhere near illegal, again it's just rude) they literally have a report ad button for ads that play automatically and it completely removes the it from what you're looking at. but to each their own I suppose.Though I do agree that for people who don't sub.. there should be an option for "non-motion ads" when I was using my potato, it slowed the site down for me quite a bit. (I was like 15 and couldn't afford the sub at that time).
this Wow Eden gotta be created by Warcraft Bible....
I seen a lot with Google and such but what about Edge from Microsoft cause I use Windows 10 and have Edge as my default browser.
For Chrome users: by pressing spacebar after typing wowhead.com in URL will allow you to search directly inside wowhead.com. Even using +wowhead wil be still showing woweden link in first result. Adding site:wowhead.com together with keywords you want to search will exclude unnecessary results.
You will be happy to know I am only seeing genuine wowhead.com results in my google searches. The only issue I have is your ads that constantly refresh and crash my browser.
Cant tell you how many times I have gotten redirected on a WowHead website to some malware download to "Fix" Chrome due to bad Ad networks. Wowhead has never really addressed this issue. Now a 3rd party takes their place in Google/SEO rankings and its all of a sudden a problem?
I'm sorry this is happening. I hope it gets resolved soon. I will definitely spread the news onto guildies. Keep up the good work. Thanks for everything you guys've done.
What is WoWEden in the first place?
Thankfully for most that use wowhead via googling stuff a lot for WoW, the SEO starts to not matter as much as the continual clicking on wowhead links does. If you google something wow-related 50 times and most of the time go after the wowhead link, wowhead will become a preferred site to you on google's algorithm, supplying you more wowhead, and since it's linked to web address and not just the name wowhead, those who have used this a LOT will likely not have a lot of issues.
Seriously stop responding to the dinguses that use adblockers. They are craving for attention and you're foolishly giving it to them. Ever heard of ignore and move on?
Thanks for the heads up about this. I'll be more careful when I google something WoW related to make sure I get to the right site.
I knew putting wowhead on my markers was a good idea, no googling needed when I have you right where I need you :)Thanks for the heads up guys! Keep up the good work!
Or you could stop using google altogether and use a site like duckduckgo. Wowhead is the top result on everything I search.
