Can't wait for my fishing pole to become unstable.
Maybe it reduces total Artifact Power needed for next Trait while letting you keep the Power Points spent on talents, causing it only to make it easier to reach new Artifact Levels? That would be cool.Think about it like Prestige: AP lowers but it lets you keep Talents so that getting new Traits requires less Artifact Power.
pah. I'd rather die than retire my artifacts
I'm sure the community would appreciate the story continuity of the artifact actually being affected by absorbing all that evil! Indeed I could see this being a moment where everyone agrees that for the sake of story we probably shouldn't have our artifacts be the only weapons we ever use again and that slowly ticking down their logistical relevance is the best way to handle it! This will be a turning point where people take stats less seriously and we finally see folks coming together as a community and-No, it will be a &*!@ show, obviously.
If this really did affect your weapon negatively, wouldn't everybody simply just hold off completing the "Corrupted Sword" questline until the very last minute (probably BoA release day when it no longer mattered) to keep their artifact weapons from going all craptastic for the next 8 months or so of Legion...
INB4 Aluneth claims to be a "stable genius" despite obvious demonic corruption and a breaking down of his entire self.
If only that weapon instability gave the weapons random equip effect noggenfogger potion qualities until the end, it would be kinda funny.
So this is the lore but I want to know what will happen to them mechanically. We already know that some traits and artifact spells are being folded in as base spells and talents but what happens to the rest? Will artifacts still have their traits or will they be stripped clean? Will they be disabled outside the Broken Isles or above level 110? At the moment the bonuses from their traits makes them great for timewalking, will we still keep them around for that?
Uhhhhhh. Am I going to have keep acquiring AP just to keep up the depletion rate? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the AP level to actually increase towards the current (and then later increased cap in 7.3.5) if the artifacts were unstable?
pleb weapons? noooooooo
IDK about the effect at the artifact forge.Cool at first but might get annoying after a while.
If it is cosmetic, or if it isn't this is LITERALLY the worst way to get people to do story arc's. I know for a fact that I will not be doing this arc at all. TBH I agree with prior comments of having people GAIN random artifact power. No matter how 'corrupted' the power we absorbed through our vessels is... techniqually speaking there are experts in the world of azeroth to convert it into pure power, we've done it before with prior quest chains. it's a lame attempt to get rid of the weapons by TAKING and depleting them. nah, they should grow to become unstable rather then just drained.
People thinking they'll be able to keep their artifacts at full strength by simply ignoring the quest lines...Anyway, this is cool, but I wish there would be weapon effects, too, like lightning or shuddering of the Doomhammer or Ashbringer, etc, or corrupted sound effects when you use it. Then at the beginning of the next expansion they finally break and we move on.Though I'd still have preferred the cutscene's absorption pushing our normal AP into our characters, unlocking our traits and such as baseline changes, and turning the weapons into mere stat sticks.
I wasn't too thrilled with the fist of Ra-den when it first came out but now I'm kinda attached to it. I'll miss the old thing.
speculationseems like this instability is more like a debuff when you are in BFA and future xpac zones so that way you are forced to use the "pleb weapons" and as you level to cap the artifacts will be useless completely or something like that.. but back in broken isles it should still have its same powers.... who knows
Seems a shame , people have vested so much time and effort into these. I understand the moving away from them, but things like this would be nice in a player house (if we ever had them) to hang on the wall or in a case.
i wanna keep my druid forms :D i dont wanna loose them, or will all cosmetic forms be gone? or will there be "transmog cat/bear form" ?
