Man I remember when I knew/cared so much about specific stats that I would have been glued to posts like this haha! These days I'm so on the "good enough is good enough" train that I consider it Blizzard's job to make higher ilvl the right answer within loot spec, and leave it at that!
I'm glad to hear of this. Block is geometrically more significant than plane. Plane is so...2 dimensional. I draw the line at plane and would make the point that block is at least 6 times better than plane, often more. Clearly Blizzard is doing us a solid.
I like the tank changes on paper, but so far they're still a little too strong vs physical stuff.
I think it is great that there are passionate people that are out testing things and give feedback on them so filthy casuals like me can have a more even play experience ;-)

Puns, especially math puns, when well crafted make me smile.
Wow! I'm very, very happy to see my Shield of Righteous Screenshot in the post preview! Thanks for choosing it! ^^

But they are really weak against magic damage now\rYes but that's intended. Tanks were far too self sufficient in Legion, which resulted in a lot of bad/lazy healers and on the whole resulted in unbalanced gameplay. Tanks are supposed to be able to sustain heavy hits, not to the degree that most of the time they do not require any outside heals.\r\r\rPerhaps in BFA all the annoying af dps that $%^&* and moan if you take so much as 1 second to scratch your balls before a boss pull will just go away now. Seeing as how this all means slower gameplay.
I like the tank changes on paper, but so far they're still a little too strong vs physical stuff.\r\rBut they are really weak against magic damage now\r\rBy now do you mean currently in Legion or in the alpha/beta of BfA? Cause I remember when Mark of Ursol was removed. It made me sad.
I like the tank changes on paper, but so far they're still a little too strong vs physical stuff.\r\rClearly you haven't tried low-level dungeons recently.

Should be fun and interesting to see how it all works out once everything goes live. Haven't paid much attention to individual stats on my tanks in several expansions now.
sounds like there tryin
That’s because those dungeons are grossly overpowered compared to end game. It was stressed on PTR that it was too much and was still pushed to live.\r\rI foresee tanks becoming like Blood DKs where we just need to hit certain buttons like Marrowrend or Death Strike to gain an active mitigation buff check “Recently Used Deathstrike”. If you don’t believe me go on live and try it out yourself. It also means that tanks need to be a little more self healing sufficient, not extremely, because this whole change to don’t use mitigation if you grossly out gear the content and can passively snorefest through it seems like a lazy design.\r\rPart of what made playing a tank fun was learning boss abilities and how to effectively counter them with the right mitigation or even the right movement maneuvers.
Things like this make me miss Tankspot.\r\rDiminishing returns used to be a well understood mechanic. We had entire spreadsheets of theorycrafting and DR tables to determine if armor class was preferable to stamina.\r\rThe long story short is that armor class ended up helping linearly. Simple example is if you have 10 of something, and subtract 10%, you now have 9. If you subtract another 10%, you now have 8.1. Why? Because 10% of 10 is 1, and 10% of 9 is 0.9. It's still a linear 10% each step. The second step just looks smaller.\r\rBlock is similar. It's still blocking the same ratio of damage. Blizzard shows stats based off of the total sum though, prior to any effects. Hmm, maybe we need another spreadsheet... heh.
Which is ironic cos during Legion Alpha they removed all the tanks self healing so that healers would have more "fun" cos they'd have to heal us more. They keep breaking tanks to fix healing, its getting really old.
