I always found managing threat much more enjoyable than what we have now in Legion.
I'm.... REALLY not looking forward to this so far.I've been a tank since TBC; I've been through the 'lean' threat times.I feel like tanks juggle enough balls as is:
This may bring me back to Tanking, because honestly outside of focusing on Active Mitigation, I have missed the Threat Management of the past.
Wow. Make it harder to tank? Hello 2 hour queues for LFR and dungeons. I'm glad I don't do much PVE as it is. This dev team is so unbelievably bad!
This is nice and all, but it only works if the encounters are designed around it. At the moment, it's all about pulling groups and AoEing WotLK-style. It also feels like it's less about tanking and more about DPS and crit with this new model. In Beta, it feels slow with the current GCD and resource accrue, this could change with better gear but I expect a similar difficulty and timing as early Mythics from Legion launch.
as a dps. zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrggggg. try and outdps tanks. lemme heal myself. healers doing same dps as tanks. dks doing more healing than healers. watyes Im overexagertating, and yes my spelling is shot. but the line between the classes, what line. didnt know threat was a thing in legion. dps healing themselves... radically so. well, provided you stay out the fire. back to dks and outhealing new/ish healers. or out dpsing new/ish dps. wat. nuff!
No wonder that Blizzard is pruning classes more and more. People complain about it but as soon as there a little depth added to a role that has been dumbed down to the extreme over the years, you cry even more. Seriously, you have a guy last page saying that people won't learn and just stop playing tanks. It is absolutely fascinating! You even have a tank complaining that mobs have "annoying" abilities that should be taken away. So no offense guys, but it feels like all you want is just more dumbed down gameplay with less ans less mechanics, just so you don't have any obstacle on your quest for the top individual performance. Absolutely all the negative comments here show an complete disinterest in actual group content and all focus on personal performance. No wonder the game is getting pruned. It is exactly what you keep asking for.And tanks stopping playing their classes will be replaced by players who quit that role when it became dull and boring because most of the tanking mechanics where taken away. It might not be enough to make that role interesting and challenging again but it is a good start, and personally it makes me want to dust off my tanks that became a joke, especially in Legion.Meanwhile, we could summarize the negative posts here with a simple "Don't you dare make me adapt to my group members or trash abilities ! I have a cycle I need to smash and repeat, for god sake".
Well ... seems like I'm going to have to actually try and keep threat, oh ... it's been awhile.Least my hunter and rogue's threat transfer abilities will get some real use again.
At one point Blizzard said "Managing threat is not fun". This is still the same Blizzard. Nothing has changed. Threat is NOT a fun mechanic.
OK, so Blizz is killing LFD. I have no problem with this change when I am tanking for friends or guild-mates. I will NOT put up with the dumpster fire that pugging will be. I play the game for fun and getting blamed in every pug when the mage pulls threat and dies because they didn't focus target is not my idea of fun.
Those of you cheering the design change for tank threat are going to be in for a rude awakening in BfA.
Welp, my tanks are perma-benched outside friend-group runs.Ain't nobody got time for the stress of pugs but worse because we decided an outdated concept that relies on an incredibly poorly-programmed mechanic (tab-targeting) should matter again suddenly.
Good. Might make group communication a thing again if it will require crowd control and threat management.
