Wouldn't be better to see it as some function of Attack Power which scales more consistently unlike base damage?
@TOMRUSyou know what's funny about people like you who are crying? Blizz just does it and that's what i like about it. How many tears from people who want it eazy are gonna fall. But blizz just is gonna do it and that is what i find amazing. It will enrich the game. Cause 1. it will affect the descesion making of tanks. 2. Dps can't just mindlessly kill everything without carring about aggro. 3. I just want see more people cry about it.
Based on those numbers, at it’s absolute worse, it’s really no different than skittish week now. And that’s on the extreme side. If this works out to actually play that way, I’m on board. The easy mode tanking has been good, and face rolling the threat meter has been fun, but there’s been no challenge. If this brings back the need to watch threat, and for tanks to actively generate it on ancillary adds, bring it on. I’m up for the challenge.
Hmmm... this should make life "interesting"
this is great, we are going back to forcing dps to not dps anymore, and tanks not to tank but try to dps. Guess blizzard forgot how dumb an idea that was. sounding more and more like BFA is the expansion to quit wow on
Lets make Tanking as a role harder, more prone to flaming, and less fun! Queue times are too low! There are way too many Tanks.(said no one ever?)
I have already seen this once.At the end of WotLK, they said that running dungeons became mindless AoE-fest, and that they want tanks to actually need to work for threat, DPS to think what they're hitting and using AoE sparingly, and everyone to use CC.It ended with a crapfest, dungeons becoming undoable on finder, and a wave of unsubscribes so massive they started giving the Cata expansion out for free to anyone who subscribed for 1 month. Here we go again...
I don't mind Blizz tinkering with threat generation, but with such a drastic drop in threat generation I'm guessing they're 'bottoming out' the threat gen to as low as they dare and see what breaks. My hope is that they'll realize 'affixing' every dungeon with Skittish will make random dungeons fairly un-fun for both tanks and DPS (As some have already said "can't wait to hurry up and wait to dps while the under-geared tank builds threat". Because over geared players steam rolling heroics is still very much a thing in current WoW, I haven't heard about that going away or being fixed) - I hope that if they do back away from this 4x threat, they work progressively UP that multiplier until they do find that sweet spot of "doesn't impede peoples fun" while still being "fun for the tank to manage". In the past it's been a roller coaster of massive threat nerfs only to flip to massive threat buffs with little in between.I personally think threat should be something any tank can get enough to keep mobs off the DPS, while not being so high a multiplier that you can do your rotation once and go get a drink. It should be such that, during a burst phase, the tank would need to bust out some burst of their own to meet the rising DPS - this would necessitate that tanks each get some kind of offensive CD baseline. This would in turn be fun simply because Tanks get to join in on the fun of a burst phase too. (There are currently a few offensive CDs for tanks, but many are largely indirect offensive CDs, like the pain generation of Metamorphosis on Vengeance DH - and many are talents rather than baseline, such as Bonestorm). In the end the aim would be that DPS COULD immediately go into a trash pull guns blazing, the tank would then have their own offensive CD as a tool to deal with that situation.Few people actually LIKE trash pulls - but a lot of people LIKE killing trash quickly. So this would be a win-win.
I hope this change sticks. The damage mitigation that properly using threat creates is really handy in many dungeons. As a ranged DPS who can slow a mob it's nice to be able to slow one, pull aggro and let it slowly run toward me doing 0 damage to anyone, only to have the tank taunt it when it gets to me and start the slow 30+ yard slog back to the tank. I have a little faith that people will learn how it works even if they haven't had to deal with this type of mechanic before. I'm willing to wait through the wiping in pugs until people learn. (I'm having visions of Cata dungeons right now which was one of my favorite times in the game.)
Yay, less people playing tank, a LOT more queuing for PU...
Guess I'll have to actually use taunt for single target. AoE doesn't matter so much since Tanks tend to do at least the same as, if not more AoE then DPS, but single target? Def have to use Taunt time to time for just threat management.AND THE DPS MUST WAIT FOR 5 !@#$ING SUNDERS!
Once again Blizzard show the thought process of a bipolar five year old. They have learned nothing from past blunders.
Well there goes the queues. The "not so good but passable" tanks won't be able to perform their jobs well enough so they'll get frustrated and quit queuing.
What a load of bull. It's like they want people to be put off trying tanking specs.
I understood absolutely nothing of this.
