Like I really feel like this alliance and Horde conflict should be framed as the contrast between Pragmatism and Empathy. We see a lot of Sylvanas trying to justify her actions as pragmatism, but they are all born out of fear, and the fact that she is made the instigator really casts doubt on how pragmatic she is, or actually isn't. She is not being cautious or clever, she is just taking the first half assed opportunity she gets and runs with it, like an idiot. At least if her hand was being forced somehow, it would be far more easier to believe she retaliate without mercy, because she never has had that. The BfA cinematic truly showed her at her best, putting on a performance to rally the troops, not for a moment I thought she actually cared, but it's about the showmanship. And now everything we see of her is her reckless agenda and blatant disregard of any repercussion. If it's her being dumb, it sucks, if it is plot armor, it sucks too because she's not engaging. So unless there's a twist that actually reframes her actions SOMEHOW -heck, even Illidan's retcon at least did that- makes it so hard to root for her on any way.
Oh how I wish that King Brat Pitt would just start a mindless slaughter... See not everyone wants and expect the Alliance king to be a grown up baby, though judging from how this "one day cease-fire" went I assume he might start to be more... man I guess? As for those that want horde perspective, here you go:"Zug Zug, fart, Snort, Bluargh"- quality conversation :DJokes aside, seriously I do want Anduin to be the second Lich King(human villain) and I hope that he does a lot more atrocious deeds.I'm tired of the horde hogging all the limelight. As if people remember the good guys in WoW... nope, all the villains :)
Just release the book already Blizzard, stop spoiling it :)
inb4 bad english:Its scary AND extremely funny how rageous some comments here are.I still believe, or better said, am extremely sure Sylvanas is going through the same kind of pre-plot as Jaina is.Getting either dealt or dealing some greater bullsh**, fueling toxic actions, recieving great hate, some random crap going on, potential "personal escalation", remorse, redemption. The hate Sylvanas receives right know is used to give her more depth and presence before redeeming her as a true warchief. At least that is my beliefe, as I still beliefe its Tyrande burning the tree down in order to prevent it falling into Sylvanas' hand, thus proving the n11 queen is somewhat mad and blames it on Sylvanas.
Grazrug and Synea. Two plagues of wowhead comment thread. Makes me lose interest on debate.
Why even accept this? What did Sylvanas possibly have to gain?
remember when anduin used mind control on his guards so he could run off and explore pandaria and ends up having a blast gutting eels and potentially running around with horde characters and hanging out with a very silly dragon? i miss that anduin.
People that are complaining that the story of this game is Alliance driven... Welcome to Warcraft? You realize it has ALWAYS been that way? With the exception of Thrall's personal story which involved the Horde as a side quest of his. The horde was created by an alien race, what on earth do you expect? This is the story of Azeroth, and who has more ties to it? Humans or Orcs? Lets see, a race that has existed since forever ago that has evolved into today squishy human flesh, or, some random alien race that came to invade the world less than a century ago (not even half). That Trolls are the first race in the game and elves just right after? Yes, so? The story portrayed in WoW (by Blizzard's choice) always focus on Humans and Orcs first. The main factions may hold everyone but we all, I am sure, can agree that Blizzard has never been able to fully develop all races equally. There is some hope that this has changed with Legion but we will see.Now to speak about good and evil, Anduin and Sylvanas and such. Take it to Blizzard, they are the ones that have been trying to force the narrative for the purpose of WoW gameplay that the Horde is not inheritably evil, following the same steps over and over in an seemingly endless circle, with the addition of less mischievous or "evil" races and bending the story towards neutrality and misunderstanding that began with Thrall's path in Warcraft 3. The entire story of WoW has been a constant ramp up of Horde power to catch up to the Alliance, some times even seeming unrealistic in hopes of making it a 50/50 because I am certain that Blizzard as a company would not want to completely alienate either half. All we can do is accept this. This letter and its content is fitting to Anduin's narrative, he is now the king of Stormwind and the head of the Alliance, that alone is enough of a reason to get the spotlight so we see more of him and how he acts and thinks, but not just that, we know that he is destined to great things and after his father's death its his time to step into it and obfuscate other characters. He is meant to lead the Army of the light for crying out loud.... He NEEDS to be portrayed as a being of good for now. We have seen and anyone with a bit of common sense can see that the story is being taken towards a Light and Shadow(Void) in which neither holds the entire truth and will be something that transcends puny faction conflicts and hatred. As for Sylvanas, it has been brought up by many people before, she IS and always HAS BEEN towards the "evil" moral side, if you follow the lore of this franchise and you are just finding out about this then dang, dont know what to tell you. Ultimately, get over it, we don't know what will happen to her. Many want her dead, and many still defend her. All of this is intended, VERY intended. If your post comes out as crying (if you dont know if your post comes out that way, then it probably does), I will give you some unsolicited advice, just stop, wait for the story to develop and see whats next. For all we know Blizzard could even do a complete flip and make Anduin fall to the void, seems unrealistic but we dont know. Enjoy Warcraft;s story for its wider and grand perspective and stop looking and focusing ONLY on the now. As other logical people have mentioned, there is passion and there is blind irrationality, I love this game, I love its story, I enjoy both sides and have my own bias as well, it can even be seen in this post, but seriously, take the advice and just stop, wait and see. Take it not as just a lesson for this game but as a life lesson as well!We are here for the ride, we dont get to choose.
Oh yeah, there's no way this would *totally* backfire in anyway shape or form.........It's going to be a dumpster fire of a summit, I can feel it in my bones.
I've been reading all these comments under different news posts about Horde being upset with Anduin being a saint that can do no wrong, but it seems to me that we are all forgetting something. Maybe someone mentioned this before, but:The boy-king serves at the master's table. Three lies will he offer you.So unless Blizzard decides to retcon the whole Il'gynoth foreshadowing fest, I think they make the Alliance look flawless just to turn it around 180 degrees at some point and make us fight Yogg'Anduin as the final boss of 8.3.Also, does anyone knows if he offered us any lies yet?
Here's the real reason for the Anduin haters: most of the wow players are probably lefties and see Anduin as the personification of white male privilege. Horde seems to have that anti-establishment feel to it, being composed of all the misfits and rejects, and occasional mana drug addicts.
I see a lot of people upset that Anduin is being portrayed as this golden boy goody two shoes with a shapeshifting nose and the manliest chin in all the Great Dark, but we've seen his goody two shoesness backfire on him before. E.g. Garrosh bish smacking him into a bell when the extent of his plan was to slap it with a stick and pass out hugs...I'm sure there are others.Anyway, I like where he is right now, because we all know in BfA the horde are not going to be playing any games. They are gonna have their allies set, their fleets ready, their weapons loaded and they'll be invading Alliance territory lightyears before we do anything too meaningful. Anduin is gonna learn quick, peace is not attainable when certain people are in power and sometimes instead of a peace summit you need to burn down a few villages and order a few assassinations to protect your people. The Light and peace talks are worth jack%^&* if your enemy is and has been of the mindset that your entire race must die for her to "live"
