Also can confirm the trick in Motherlode works with monk statues.. at least the brewmaster one.
They need to change MDI ruleset to be more "viewer friendly", you can always tweak rules like they disabled engineering cr item, or decide map picks, they could put rules that would throw a wrench into the "same comp" setup, they could adjust the key to be at a difficulty where multiple wipes can happen so "behind" team has a chance to comeback, etc. In the current edition, it's just boring to watch. Basically any team that deviated from the strict meta lost, there was no place for innovation or surprise. With every passing MDI season the comps are getting more and more stale, and I think this one was a pinnacle of it.
And tomorrow or later today we should see fixes for freehold, motherlode and atal'dazar, and with all this crying, a huge nerf to shadowmeld - like not usable in combat meaning people no longer have it on their bars and are race changing out of NE (unless the other racials are what makes them choosen or for rp reasons in an action MMO)
To all saying that it's the worst MDI: sure, let's ignore the fact that it's only the second event since MDI was made last year.
A compromise for Shadowmeld is Reaping can never be permanently de-aggro'd. This should hold universally true for any and all abilities, not just Shadowmeld. As soon as anyone pops out of Shadowmeld, the reaping souls hunt the players down again. This wouldn't turn Shadowmeld into total crap, it would just be way less useful and no longer game breaking. It could be used to not have to deal with all the reaping souls at once. It buys your party time to heal up.To shake up comps, taking the best perceived class/spec for your role should add 5 minutes to your score. So if you still really, really want that Prot warrior, be prepared to justify that 5 minute handicap. Taking the best race adds 3 minutes.
I have a 120 NE druid and a 120 Troll druid; the racials don't matter. Shadowmeld is useful when questing and when the offtank in LFR won't taunt...otherwise I get aggro right back as soon as SM ends
As someone who loves the MDI but unfortunately missed big chunks this is a great summary, thanks very much for putting it together!
