I never saw anyone just using the Waterstrider though. Since the Effect gets cancelled when you take damage (Even before you enter water) it’s only use was when you were at the waters edge or in the water itself. Nobody I know ever used it in cities or what have you.
In before their “affordable price” it’s 3000g
I can see it happening...Flying mounts will lose flying but instead you can put a perk into it to let it fly...
Holy fudge brownies Batman, I think they are nerfing Blacksmithing, Leatherworking with this. If I'm reading this patch correctly, Items such as Estribos reforzados con monel will no longer be a buff on a character but a equipment slot on your mount. So if you were out farming (say herbs or ore) and really wanted to maximize your gathering you could presently put on all 3: Gualdrapa de cuero burdo Placas para pezuñas endurecidas con monelita Estribos reforzados con monel and be buffed for 2 hours on say the Waterstider which would allow you to Waterwalk, Interact with the node without being dismounted, increased mount speed, and prevent being dazed by hostile NPC's.Under new patch it appears you can only have 1 item on your mount as a equipment slot not a buff. So brings to thought for people who were looking for a mount that does what the Gólem aéreo (for herbing) will now do for Mining. They could equip a mount with the Estribos reforzados con monel and then you have a mount that can gather ore or herbs without dismounting (only question would be as the old item had a 2 hour duration, with this new system will there be no duration only destroyed on replacement similar to gems?). Note: granted I realize the buff for Placas para pezuñas endurecidas con monelita is negated by Abrecaminos de Battle for Azeroth, 1.ª parte as speed buffs do not stack, it is only uses your highest buff.Which brings me back to the crafting nerf if these items become permanent until replaced, wouldn't that change the income these profession were bringing in from crafting these items. Players could easily buy only 1 or 2 of these items (which used to be duration buffs) and attach them as permanent equipment onto mounts they could use Estribos reforzados con monel to do gathering on one mount, water walking on another, and Gualdrapa de cuero burdo for daze prevention for going through hostile areas, etc... thus killing the market on these items. Not to mention would make the Gólem aéreo not as valuable and killing that market also. I believe this is just another attempt from the Activision business side to target casual players be allowing them to get items/buffs that previously needed grinding, farming of mats, or professions to be purchased for gold. This keeps the casual players happy (newer mentality of instant gratification) but at the expense of the slow killing for professions or benefit of putting some work into the game.
My guess is they probably got more complaints from people that don't have the mount but that is just speculation so complaints mean nerf the good thing that people don't want to grind the angler rep for.I don't get the big deal seems like, when I want water walking I popped out the water strider, otherwise I used something else.
To me, this looks like the players have a solution, ie grind the strider mount rep, but Blizzard is looking for the problem, ie removing the water walking ability from a water strider and then suggest their "solution" is to simply purchase equipment that allows us to walk on water. I'm hearing two steps forward, one step back. It isn't the end of the world, but did not really need to be changed. Want to discuss OP? remove heirlooms and see how that feedback flows.
A problem I have, and at least a few others - we no longer have the toons that had that rep they're deleted. What now?
I respectfully disagree with the coming changes to water-walking. Earning either of these strider's took a substantial amount of work and was an achievement for those who have them. Sadly this is another case of blizzard minimizing player's efforts in obtaining the unique mounts and their benefits. The blue posts asks how often do you really use them? ALOT! They have been instrumental in leveling through BFA and pretty essential for IE's now and Ashran before this xpac. Personally I have both and neither of them are particularly good looking. That doesn't stop me from using them. Being able to reskin your water walking mount of choice is cosmetic only. Angler's rep and Nat's lucky coins took time and commitment to earn. These mounts were REWARDS for all that work. If you think the masses deserve a WW mount, add a new more easily obtainable one. Quit minimizing and removing benefits given to the dedicated. While no price is known, there will still be Angler's rep required to buy the new water shoes anyway. If catering to the casuals, I don't know if this gets it done. Sadly, this is a trend I am seeing a lot of in recent years: Negating hard work and dedication without remorse. In Legion, I spent literally months of game time reaching max honor level for the rewards. When the Dev's reworked the system for BFA, they spit in the face of everyone who did the same by recycling the legion mounts and rewards. "Congratulations! For your efforts we will be sending duplicates of these mounts as you progress through BFA! If you are still dedicated enough to max out honor this xpac you will earn 1 new mount for your monumental efforts!". Have the decency to make a reward....well, a reward. You could have given vicious saddles or better yet, new unique mounts for BFA instead. Anything would have been better then a duplicate mount. I have not excelled at Rated Pvp enough to earn a gladiator's season mount ever. I am not complaining because you have to EARN them. If you made them available to everyone after the fact, it would be a slap in the face to the dedicated few who earned them. The same is true of the legion honor mounts, and now water-striders. Please respect and recognize the efforts of those who have done things which are essentially feats of strength. Or don't...….but decide. If every mount can water-walk, they can all surely fly, allow you to gather without dismounting, be multiple seat mounts, and have vendors with xmog and AH capabilities. While the idea of mount equipment is novel, it has been done in the past and failed. I don't see this latest attempt offering any value to the game. Water walking is a benefit a few classes enjoyed pre-strider. Strider's made those classes utility less beneficial. The anti-daze equipment just makes buffs, pvp talents, and professional items which already offered this obsolete. My carrot on a stick was more beneficial then what you are trying to implement. You will implement and subsequently remove this in a year or two. It doesn't make or break the game. But the underlying choices you are making which nullify the loyalty and dedication many players put into various aspects of the game are breaking it, player by player, disappointment after disappointment. Treat everyone with the same respect you give the HOTA mount recipients and honor exclusivity with permanence.
