If the intended mount equipment was meant for not restricting player to one mount, then you should really considering making gathering proff once also. one for skinning, herbing and mining. EVERY herber except druids is using the golem while lvling. This way you could also get more to proffesions, making the recipe a cool scenario/story. I like the base idea of the equipment, but implementing it right is key.
People are asking "What is the big deal?" "Why so upset?" Getting the rep to buy the Water Strider was no small feat, a lot of us put in a lot of effort because it gave us an advanced the rest did not have. Next time you are grinding for that hard to find bit of gear, or ultra rare recipe, just remember, they can take it away, just like that! Worked really hard to get that two person flying Dragon? It may be gone next update. This is about trust more than anything. Bilzzard has shown that you should not put in the effort to get that special ability, mount, what ever. Because they can and will take it away willy nilly at anytime! Bye Bye Bilzzard, that's 4 account that will never come back.
Just to clarify one point, how can you have a Water Strider that cannot stride on water? This change is, by definition absurd and wrong.
I've really gotten to the point where I don't believe anything Blizzards says, especially when they try and explain their motivation behind a change.I'm sure there is some underlying motivation for them to make this change (completely unnecessary change, so that's a huge warning sign) that they aren't telling us.Does anyone believe they listen to their players anymore?
I have to agree with the folks who are saying that this slot/water walking will be tied to something later in the game or become obsolete. Like Findle's Loot-a-rang. Leave the water strider as is. Keep the slot and let people go through the hassle of buying equipment for all their alts because they don't want to take the time to run Time Walking dungeons to get the rep commendations. Why not make all mounts able to fly? There has to be something else going on here besides the excuse of it's used too much.
no..blizz does not listen unless we all freak out..aka what we hunters did when they took out Hati away...THEN they listen
See I don't see this working out like blizzard hopes.I see a bunch of unrealistic mounts walking on water like giant dinosaurs and mammoths. the immersion just doesn't make sense. Like we put boots on a 20 foot dinosaur and it can walk on water? In addition, I'm very against the water strider nerfs (If it wasn't due to past issues where blizzard has tried to get rid of the water strider passive. Both times were in WOD and in legion. Legion never made it of beta)I just don't have faith in this system working, especially with how rushed it looks.
Water striders use the high surface tension of water and long, hydrophobic legs to help them stay above water. ... The legs of a water strider are long and slender, allowing the weight of the water strider body to be distributed over a large surface area. They already have the equipment innately. While the idea of mount equipment is somewhat cool, the idea of requiring a mount with the innate ability to require additional equipment to do so is not. You wouldn't require an animal with the ability to fly to have flying equipment would you? Yet, you have many mounts that can fly without any additional equipment. This decision is the same as every other dumbed-down play decision you've made since Vanilla. It's not based on logic. It is solely based on the whiny-baby complainers who don't want to put any effort into obtaining difficult things. By doing so, you devalue the things that your creative team has designed as time sinksTime sinks keep people playing the game as long as the reward justifies the end. This is a bad decision to cripple two water striders in order to make it fair i.e. all the other mounts require equipment to waterwalk, so there should be no unfair advantage for water striders. That is completely illogical.Quit catering to the whiny babies.
This change to the Azure Water Strider is wrong it should be treated the same as the Sky Golem with Mount Equipment and maintain its ability to walk on water. Originally it took me about 1-2 weeks of quests every day and now because I want to use the Comfortable Rider's Barding now I cannot use my strider to walk on water, this is BS.This is my mount macro, so sad the Azure Water Strider is no longer relevant, this is so BS./dismount/cast Obsidian Nightwing;Grand Expedition Yak;Azure Water Strider;Sky Golem;Imperial Quilen;Azure Water Strider
I did not get the water walking on my lower level toons when it was sent out by Nat Pagle. So let's recap here. Unless you are high enough in the Anglers to buy the Water Strider which does not walk on water anymore, you cannot get the items to use to walk on water. Now this is unacceptable since I kept this mount always on my bar for any leveling toon. It was essential. I get that letting all my toons walk on water is cool. However, punishing any toon under level 85 is not cool. Fix please.
