Just give shamans a damned tank spec already, make those shields useful!
You're lacking perspective. I trully believe that your friend is great. However, pick an also great Holy Priest with equivalent gear and compare them in M+. Priest will out-stand easily. That's why. It's not based on an individual, but numbers from hundreds of thousands of players.
Yet again shaping up to be lackluster. How come i feel so dedicated and loyal to my Rsham Main when we get nothing but the shaft every single expac. Sigh. Devs just dont seem to understand shamans at all. Even ele (can't speak to enh since i don't play) but even some of the things they added back in then nerfed.. again will be a struggle :(
Till now Blizzard prooved that she listens to the community! It's our chance to flood the Shaman Feedback forum so we can have what we deserve...
Even the Essences "The Well of Existence" and "Life-Binder´s Invocation" could be used to rework the resto mastery. The Well of Existence --> some kind of Water Well or Spiritual WellStores Healing based on Mastery in Well and releases based on Health of the target you heal. Capped Healing at 40% health of the target.- Rework Wellspring that it releases all Healing stored.- Create a Talent that stores % of your damage in the well. And maybe Lava Surge releases a % of the stored Healing to target with active riptide hots on it.Life-Binder´s Invocation --> Earthbound, couldn´t find a better name atm.Just like the Essence but with a proc chance based on mastery to give the target a charge of a earth shield. the provided earth shield can be stacked up to 3 and has only a duration of 15 sec.- Additionally reworking Surge of Earth that it consumes up to maybe 9 Charges from allys to heal a single target for the amount based on the charges.
I would really like to see wind rush totem become baseline instead of a talent. Also Earth elemental i think we should get something like primal elementalist baseline since we only have 1 elemental as resto and its pretty much useless
Great review for the class.I'd love to see Resto get their Earthliving back like in wrath, or Flametongue that actually gives bonus to spell power.Surge of Earth to be damage reduction external is a great idea.. also, Wind Rush Totem should be baseline!
My favourite part about resto shaman is that it's the shaman spec that uses totems the most.
I was wishing that Surge of Earth would be changed to a damage reduction cooldown that replaces Earth Shield. Outside of our weak single target heals rsham is lacking a Ironbark-like ability that can help tanks in mythic plus content. Although I do not have Alpha so I cannot test it myself, I feel like SoE will be an underwhelming talent choice where Echo will always be taken over SoE in any situation. The idea I have for Surge of Earth is: Replaces Earth Shield. Surge of Earth lasts 9 seconds or until all charges are consumed giving the target 45% damage reduction and healing them when they take damage. Each charge consumed reduces the damage reduction by 5%. 9 charges. This means at 9 charges the target has 45% DR, at 8 charges 40% DR and so on. Overall Ironbark will have more value over the course of it's 12 second duration but Earth Shield will have more value the first 3 seconds/charges then Ironbark does the first 3 seconds of it's duration. I feel like where Surge of Earth is right now will be very underwhelming and never be useful in any situation and the value that Echo adds in healing and damage with extra Riptide, CB/HST and LB charges will prove to be more valuable than SoE. The current state of this talent row is very disappointing with Echo always shinning. The change to Deluge in BFA made it a head turner but only for a little while. I used Deluge in a few keystones after it was changed but the loss of extra spot healing from Riptide charges and extra damage output with Lava Burst made me swap back to Echo rather hastily. I feel something needs to be changed in this row to make Echo more competitive rather than it being the only choice.I would love to be able to test SoE and I want it to be good but the Echo play style is just too much fun and enjoyable for me. With that said, make Echo baseline to rsham and add someone else in the talent tree to replace it.
Will definitely miss Spouting Spirits... it was one of my favorite Azerite Traits. Using the totem less than 1 second before damage happened, to get the damage reduction and hp split, while also letting Spouting Spirits have a ton of value was wonderful. That was an extremely rewarding ability to use correctly.Another thing I really don't like is how they're limiting things to a ridiculously small range. Many of those effects require people to be exactly where you want them, such as Mana Tide, Surge of Earth, Vesper Totem and Fae Transfusion... not to mention that both Spirit Link Totem and Healing Rain will not have the increased radius we had with Azerite Traits. I wish the effects that heal multiple allies could reach out a lot more, or else we're risking almost never taking full advantage of those, except for hard-stacking mechanics... where our kit is already great.I would love to see some wild options to shift a larger portion of the throughput from Chain Heal spam into single target heals like Healing Wave and Healing Surge. I like Undulation a lot, but it's hard to justify taking it over Unleash Life when it does so much more for Chain Heal, especially with High Tide as it was.One thing I liked from the past that I don't see returning is single target healing spells increasing the duration of Healing Rain. If that's not desirable, we could have something to make single target spells interact with Earth Shield, maybe giving it +1 charge every X spells cast. This combined with Undulation would be very interesting and could also justify taking Surge of Earth, now that you'd be wasting less casts on the shield itself. If that's still not desirable, what if once a charge of Earth Shield was consumed, instead of healing X damage it opened an X hp shield on the target? This would make it a little more valuable once the target was at max hp, by reducing its overhealing.Primordial Wave seems like the thing Monks already have with targets affected by Renewing Mists getting healed by some of their spells. I'm not a fan of that effect for shaman, especially if it's only for the next Healing Wave. This will probably be more impactful for Chain Heal, as we'd have more Riptides out, than for Healing Wave. I feel like if this had a buff that lasted for several seconds, in which time you could cast a few HWs that would be copied, it might be nicer to use and would encourage some more single target heal casts.Lastly, for our Mastery... I feel like it really should have a chance to show a bit more. I see Holy Priests having their Mastery passive healing show up as the largest portion of their healing. If they're already trying to enforce positioning of our healing effects by giving them a very small range, maybe we could have something like "allies standing closer to the totems get more heals/mana".
I'll parrot several comments here. I think Surge of Earth should get serious consideration for a rework. It sound like a fun talent, but I don't think it will get much play over echo of the elements, unless the numbers are tuned to make it "mandatory". However, as several others have pointed out, shamans already have plenty in their toolkit to handle aoe healing. We lack in sustained, high single-target healing. I think its understood that shamans really excel as group healers, but adding one more group heal will have minimal impact on gameplay. I think making us (more) viable in high keys is something that needs serious consideration, and this is the perfect opportunity to do that. Consuming Earth shield charges is a good interaction, so I'd be happy to see that part stay. Either act like a swiftmend, or turn it into a DR/absorb. As it is now, I worry it won't get much use and the devs will have done all that work creating a new talent for nothing.
For anyone wondering about the state of Resto Shaman in M+, there are 27 shamans in the top 1000 healers in the world.
This looks good right now.. BUT the only way to really see how it's going to work is by playing this new version of resto shammys. Im kind of excited for the water shield being back but not too excited lol
To make it a bit more powerful on ST healing on mythic plus without breaking it on raids I think would be to make chain heal, when it heals a target with earth shield on, to give you a proc. of instant healing surge. That way you can top up the tank a bit easier, make wind rush totem base spell and put surge of earth in its place. Or something along those lines.
