#RIPRELICS
This was never going to go live like that.
I wouldn't be surprised if they revert it back to something more reasonable with these relics since old content raid raw gold has been completely nerfed to death...
Uhm.. Was I in Emerald Dream or smth cuz I don't remember for what are those Relics of the Past? Why do people invest? I've missed something somewhere but it seems a big change.. I guess.
Meh, it's ok, it's a good thing, you really cant expect to get a ton of gold from afk crafting... I invested around 2k in bfa mats just in case this went live, so it didnt hurt at all.
Could you expand in your articles a bit more? What is Relics of the Past, what is vendor flipping and what is vendor shuffle?

While the nerf is probably good for the overall health of the economy, I don't think that this was the right solution. By needing a shadowlands specific item to make the relics, how does that help someone new who might want to make their own gear as they level? By making the relics of the past so expensive to craft and gated by shadowlands content, it makes the whole relics of the past system moot. Maybe it will be half decent for alts but it will still be a round about way of making them.
Never invest in something subject to such huge changes. People mad about this should have seen it coming.
This is just crazy i dont see it being used much at all nowit was good catchup for new players or alts to keep in decent gear imo to fix the vendor flip make the relics require an amount equal to what they sell for.. so at least when you are done with the gear you can vendor it and recoup most of your goldhaving it cost 2-3x to make what you can vendor it for most people aren't going to bother with itif it costs 100s of gold per piece for leveling gear is just crazy (you might make that 1 piece you arent getting)was hoping to make a bunch of gear for forgotten alts before sl.. but with this guess back to world questsI agree something needed to be done just think they took it a little farI personally don't see myself using it now
This makes good sense, flipping vendor goods shouldn't be easy money. Selling goods and services between players should be the right way and this change reinforces that idea.
Blizzard couple months ago: "Lets make old materials and professions viable again."Blizzard week before prepatch: "Hmm we have a better idea, let's make relics -80g profitable and oversaturate AH with millions of stacks of runecloth because of our bait, so cloth is worth less then 1 copper..."So basically before all this cloth is sold it will be months or maybe even years before like half of all old world materials will come back to normal price... GJ blizzard.. good way to kill professions and materials. Oh and LOL for sure people will craft weak green items for 130+ gold to wear for 2 hours into SL levelling instead of just investing in heirlooms.Blizz just loves creating those baiting systems and then nerfing everything to the ground... same is with legendaries, covenants, conduits and basically the whole expansion...Raw gold nerfed below ground, the only hope(relics) nerfed below the depths of hell... so only way to make gold in SL is to either become a AH flipping/resetting goblin... farm transmog that will oversaturate the market because bots will now farm transmogs... or sacrifice your sweat and blood into SL professions that will basically as always after few months become unprofitable with cost of materials being more than profit... GJ! BLIZZARD!I get it... 15k+/h from shuffling relics was too much and I fully expected the nerf but to something like 2k/hour and not @#$%ing -30k/h... this is bonkers.
They shouldn't have added such a high cost to crafting Relics. This screws over anyone who wants to craft gear for alts, unless they're very rich, because I know I certainly don't have 1,462g 50s per alt to craft a full set of gear for each of them. A better way to nerf it while keeping Relic crafting doable would have been to make crafted item prices static. Have the sale price be the same whether it's a level 4 linen robe or a level 50, and you won't be able to exploit it.
Blizzard clearly want to limit profitability of this shuffle, and at the same they have no free time to apply proper price adjustments now (situation must be really bad if they had to delay SL launch). In my opinion this change is a quick and dirty fix to prevent exploiting this shuffle now. I think that they will create and release better fix later, probably together with 9.1 patch.
If they added just 1-2-3-4-5 additional reagent instead of 1-2-3-15-25 then it would both reduced this to not-worth bothering for gold making and still made it viable for leveling characters. If they keep thia like this its completely useless for everything.
Who didn't see this coming? Funny thing is, leatherworking is vastly more expensive mat wise than the rest for the shadowlands reagents.
