Midsummer Fire Festival Guide
It's officially summer and that means it's time for the
Festival del Fuego del Solsticio de Verano
to begin! The festivities just went live in Europe a couple of hours ago; unfortunately, those of us who play on US servers will have to wait until just past midnight of June 21st to begin celebrating. At any rate, we have our guide updated with the new loot from the event and are updating coordinates as they come in from those who use
our Wowhead client
. Most of them are correct in our guide, but a few have been moved with the changes that Cataclysm wrought--for example, the
Las Mil Agujas
fires seem to have been removed--and we'll be updating them as soon as possible.
Updated Loot Drops
We've previewed these before, but there are updated capes for adventurers and a new Scythe (which does not scale well with Cataclysm's changes to stats, as it only has stamina) from the
Ahune
encounter and its reward bag as well. These capes look especially nice for alts.

A few hotfixes today, the biggest ones are probably the "nerfs" to the goblin racial discount and Archaeology gains--even though they weren't working as intended.

The second bit of information is that the /roar emote will now have roaring for all. If you recall, it was hotfixed out in 4.1 because Worgen had their own roar and other races didn't. Well, don't worry; now

A few big hotfixes were just announced for live today.

Some hotfixes were just posted for 4.2--a lot of minor quest changes and fixes to things that broke at 4.1's launch, nothing too important. In-depth Boss Strategies for Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub
Now that the servers are stable, you're probably thinking of queuing for
Zul'Aman

later on today. As you can imagine, slightly harder heroics is nothing to laugh about--especially if you choose to be brave and PUG them. Add in the fun with rare mount drops, epic BoE drops, and they can even seem like a nightmare.
We here at Wowhead have you covered, though! Every boss page on the database has a strategy up that's current as of last night. We're also posting them here for you in a nice miniguide so that you can use this post as a cheat sheet to how to do every new encounter in 4.1. Conquest Changes and Latest Cataclysm Hotfixes (April 26th)
Apparently conquest earned for rated PvP was changed to a flat amount regardless of team rating this patch. This was not included in the patch notes, but it's a fairly interesting change--one that's already generating a fair amount of negative feedback on Blizzard's official forums. They're looking into the amounts to see if they need to be changed; right now it's 135 conquest points for winning an arena match and 335 for a rated battleground.
Of course, that's if you can even login. Patch days generally mean hotfixes and today is no exception, but at least
Zul'Aman
and
Zul'Gurub
are finally accessible if you're patient enough. There are no estimated deployment times for some of these hotfixes, however, Blizzard says sometime this morning they should be implemented for all servers.
Conquest Earned Changed to Flat Rating
In patch 4.1 the amount of Conquest earned for both Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds has been changed to a flat amount regardless of team rating, to 135 and 335 respectively. This change should of course have been in the patch 4.1 notes, but due to a fairly straight forward error, was not included.
