The Ardenweald Dreamer - Ysera's Story in Shadowlands (Story Spoilers)

Ysera was one of the datamined characters that we knew would appear at some point in Shadowlands. With the latest alpha build release, Ardenweald is now available for testing, and within the zone leveling storyline, Ysera has been found! In this post, we look at how Ysera shows up in Ardenweald.
WARNING: SHADOWLANDS STORY SPOILERS AHEAD!
Finding the Special Wildseed
In one of the earlier quests in Ardenweald, we learn about Wildseeds - these mystical seeds are where souls being prepared to go through rebirth are stored in. They hibernate within these seeds while being fed anima. After learning about them, we gather some wildseeds, and with them, a wildseed that is seemingly very special - one that binds itself to us. This special wildseed will accept anima from no other creature, other than us.
Dreamweaver: Come everyone. This newcomer will feed a wildseed and we will peer into its spirit's dreams!
Dreamweaver: This spirit was within the last group to arrive before the drought began.
Dreamweaver: The younger wildseeds require a more hands-on approach to grow into the ones you saw in the Tranquil Pools.
Dreamweaver: That's strange. The spirit is... reaching out to you?
Dreamweaver: It... looks like it's trying to form a bond with you. This is an extremely rare occurence! I've never seen it myself before...
Dreamweaver: That was strange. Let me try something...
Dreamweaver: It rejected my anima... and now it is being overcome by some sort of nightmare!
Dreamweaver: Quickly, give the wildseed anima to calm it down!
Dreamweaver: There it does. Shh... easy now... it's going to be alright.
Dreamweaver: The wildseed has definitely bonded with you. How strange!
Dreamweaver: Quite the little dreamer, that one. I can only imagine what will happen when it finally awakens.
Dreamweaver: I'm going to figure out why our Dreamer is so different.
The Wildseed's Nightmares
During further adventures in Ardenweald, we return to Tirna Vaal, where Dreamer, the wildseed, is being kept at. The wildseed seems to become distressed whenever we're away from Tirna Vaal, and because of this, it starts spewing nightmares that we must control. These nightmares take the form of corrupted creatures we've seen through Legion in the Darkheart Thicket dungeon. The denizens of Ardenweald are also very surprised that the spirit within the wildseed can create real nightmares like that.
What spirit is so powerful that their nightmares become real?
Are all these nightmares coming from just one spirit? How is that possible?
After controlling the nightmares, Dreamweaver, the fae responsible for taking care of the wildseed in our absence, talks a bit more about the spirit contained within the wildseed.
Within this wildseed lies the spirit of a powerful agent of nature. When they died, they were brought directly to Ardenweald.
It is our honor to care for them as they dream and prepare for rebirth on their world.
The interesting thing is, though... they seem to know you. Isn't that something?
With how powerful this spirit is, it is then suggested to bring it to Hibernal Hollow, a place where spirits go under the ritual to prepare for rebirth.
The Hibernal Hollow
We then bring the wildseed to Hibernal Hollow. Through the journey to this grove, two faes discuss about the Wildseed and the spirit it contains. From the tone of their conversation, it seems that the nightmares the wildseed is suffering from can be the end of that spirit, and Hibernal Hollow is their only hope of survival.
Niya: I've never seen a wildseed behave like this.
Niya: There must be a very special spirit within this one...
Ara'lon: Hold a moment... why is a wildseed being delivered to Hibernal Hollow?
Niya: This one is consumed with nightmares... and has formed a bond with our friend here.
Ara'lon: Strange. There is something special about this one... something I haven't seen in any other wildseed.
Ara'lon: Niya, was it? Tell me more about this wildseed.
Niya: It has formed a bond with our friend... and suffers from nightmares darker than I've ever seen.
Niya: Dreamweaver instructed us to bring it to Hibernal Hollow in the hopes that it may be saved.
Visions of the Dreamer
After arriving in Hibernal Hollow and preparing the rituals to emerge the spirit from its seed, we learn about the sources of her nightmares in
In Origins, we arrive at a version of the dream where Proto Drakes can be seen, as well as young versions of Ysera and even some characters dear to her! You can talk to these characters to see messages of them to her. These visions all but confirm that the spirit contained within the special Wildseed is indeed that of Ysera.
is Merithra of the Dream. One of Ysera's daughters, she served as a major figure during the War of the Shifting Sands and now serves as the ambassador of the Green Dragonflight in the Chamber of Heart.
is Cenarius, whom Ysera mentored, teaching him the secrets of the Emerald Dream. Like Ysera, Cenarius was corrupted during Legion, but players managed to redeem him in the Emerald Nightmare raid.
is Eranikus, who served as consort to Ysera. Eranikus died during the War Against the Nightmare, sacrificing himself to stop the corrupted dragon Lethon from absorbing the energies of the Nightmare.
is Malfurion Stormrage, whom Ysera taught a lot during his time in the Emerald Dream.
is Tyrande Whisperwind, who considered Ysera one of the most beautiful creatures she ever seen. Tyrande regretfully had to kill Ysera during the battle for the Temple of Elune in Legion.
Mother, if only you were here with me. Our kin still have hope, but we struggle without you.
I need your guidance.
You were the mother that walked the path of the dream with me. You taught me so much.
The world needs you.
I miss you, my love.
We will be together again in the Dream, one day.
My beloved made the right choice, when she tried to save you. I grieve for the way it ended.
The Dream will never be the same.
My friend... I mourn your loss, and the part that I had to play in it.
I hope that this is not the end.
In The Betrayal, we need to face a foe that Ysera went against, someone who was once dear to her and her brothers.
After this, we need to go through the last thing that was torment Ysera... her final moments.
End of the Dream
, we learn that the reason Ysera is so restless within her wildseed is that she is constantly reliving her final moments in life, over and over and over. To be able to go over the ritual that reawakens her, we need to go through her final moments as if we were Ysera herself, which means we are transported to Val'sharah to relive her death in the Temple of Elune. Through the scenario, you can see many players being killed by Ysera, but Tyrande mercifully delivers the last blow to Ysera.
Currently, after this scenario, characters are crashing and we cannot see the end of Ardenweald, but it is assumed Ysera is reawakened from her wildseed, as there are
datamined models of Ysera herself in Shadowlands
